    Lads wasn’t a CDM either. He was a #10.

Rest of the season will be all about crisis control. Youngsters will not play much.

I wonder now that Dani is back and he is our first captain, if he become a sub player. Cause Dani imo before injury was the best RB in the world. If he return his form.. maybe we can use Trent as CM ?

    That's a possibility indeed.

it would also fit this club's process perfectly. Never sign a player for the position he's supposed to play.

Something tells me if Dani is healthy, he will find his way to the big matches ahead of Trent

I don’t think there is ever an important game I’d take a healthy Trent over a healthy Dani, even at his age. Just adds so much more. Defensively, leadership, guts, spirit.

He embodies that warrior attitude and we desperately need that back with the changes we’ve had in our squad over the years

We could easily play Carvajal at RCB, Trent as RWB and if we want to adjust during the match shift Trent further up the field to RF and Carvajal to RB.

I made the same recommendation for Carreras at LCB and having Rodrygo (or even Camavinga) at LWB. Easily can adapt when the players are so flexible which makes the system less rigid

Why not just buy an actual RW with the proper skill set.

I mean we did need a starting quality player given Dani’s age and aggressive style of play. So we kinda had to put ourselves in this situation

There is no way Dani sits on the bench. He is either playing RCB or RB depending on what formation we use. TAA is playing RWB or RCM.

We have not seen Dani play since the horrific injury. At his age, I’d be shocked if he’s able to recover 85% of what he was in physical ability.
No doubt he’s a warrior and will give max effort- but let’s wait and see.

Regardless of Dani's recovery and ability, I can guarantee you that trent will play every game. He's as close to a galactico signing that Perez has for this season, so he'll play.

We've seen how younger players like Militao and Alaba have struggled to return from this injury to even provide depth off the bench but we're expecting Dani to come in and start over a healthy Trent.

Dani is one of the best leaders we have on this team, but we really need to pump the brakes on our expectations here. Even a season where he can spot start occasionally or provide 20-30 minutes here and there would be a success at his age. Sadly, to me it's much more likely he struggles with health, form, and ability than becoming a starter again.

It's going to look silly if Trent is on the bench for a big game. Optics are going to be off the charts.
