As he's just signed a renewal, you're right. We'll look after him and I think it would be a shitty move to pull out of negotiations now because of his injury. It would look bad.

We don't have the bad press for a year and we can look for long term replacements starting in January

I wonder what the renewal offer was. I know they must have been negotiating on salary levels before the injury.

If I were Flo I would have offered him whatever salary his agent was seeking at the beginning of negotiations ( or whatever his current salary was, assuming it would have been reduced on any renewal).

You have to look after your people in their hard times. I think that’s exactly what the club have done.

You know if this was Barca they would have cancelled the contract extension and tried to sign a mediocre player with the freed up salary.

Gutted about the little warrior. We didn't only lose the best rightback in the world, but also a leader and spirit creator of the team. I know already I will be crying when he makes his return.

Carvajal had a better season than Rodri.

Funny that Rodri said Carvajal deserved to be there just as much as him but the club chose to make it all about Vinicius.

Next season Balon d'Or, Rodri. For making it about everyone but himself.

So bitter. The fact that he sort of dedicated this award to Spanish football has Real Madrid looking like crazy people in the domestic press.

He's on every cover today. We didn't really play this right

Changes nothing. Rodri won less collective trophies and close to zero individual awards this season. Both Dani and Vini deserved more than him. There's no explanation for Rodri winning it other than journalists being extremely stupid, biased and disonest.

I remember Dani saying if he could sign one player he would bring Rodri to Madrid. I am fascinated by the thought of how the club would've reacted had we signed Rodri instead of Mbappe and he would've won the Balon d'Or while currently wearing a Madrid kit.

Just a fascinating thought to me.

Would still feel like a robbery. If Bellingham won it would have been a robbery.

Carvajal is the only other player that had a case for it.

I mean, nobody is saying he's a bad player, but his season was way less spetacular than Vini's and Dani's.

Did Modric win the Euro when he won it?

Again, that's the bad thing about it. The metrics change every year. One year it's for scoring a lot of goals, the other year it's because of the world cup, the other year it's because of a guy being a wonderful leader and eventually this is a shitshow every single year.

Even when Modric won it the hatred and vitriol from fans and family of a certain individual was pretty damn embarrassing.

I think we would have rolled him out in a golden wheelchair at the Bernabeu, ACL tear and all.

Yes, because there's so few Balon d'Or winning players in this kit. LOL

The fans would still be outraged. Everybody in their right minds know Vini and Dani were the best/won the most trophies the past season.

Not because in your scenario he plays for Real Madrid, but because he doesn’t play for City.

The crowd at the Bernabeu is majority spanish, he would have gotten a standing ovation for three hours.

Ok, yeah, they hate us so much they voted for all our guys in various positions, voted us team of the year, and gave our coach the coach of the year award.

The uncomfortable truth is that Vinicius is a pretty unpopular football player, and it took this for a lot of people to find out. This is about Vinicius, not about Real Madrid.

For me, things like team of the year holds no credibility, this was an award Man City won when we previously won the CL and La Liga.

Initially we were waiting for the player / manager votes to come out to try make sense of the vote, you included.

The club has Spanish athletes and people of cultural significance take the kick off every so often when it can. It's identity is Spanish, as much as the global business side of things tries to hide it.

I'd' celebrate Dani getin it more than if Vini did.I think Vini deserved it most tho,but instead of learning from this, he now stubornly blames his defeat on racism, Again. What's even worse that Real got 3 other awards that they will throw in the trash simply cause of this childish brazilian .i'm growing tired of both him and rodrygo, there are too many black players in the squad
