He was in the process of negotiating a new contract with the club, just absolutely brutal timing. I think we'll take care of him, but the situation is going to become very tense over financials.
As much as i think you tend to be a bit on the apologist side, this isn't an age related injury, it was such a freak occurance that it's just the tragic sense of fate, so we agree on that.
Terrible.. especially when it's just random situation, one minute till match is over. Terrible news..
Media reporting that the club intend to keep him beyond 2025 despite the injury. I love Carvajal but this is crazy. Edit: He's been officially renewed till 2026.
Comunicado Oficial: renovación de Dani Carvajal.#RealMadrid— Real Madrid C.F. (@realmadrid) October 6, 2024 Comunicado Oficial: Carvajal extended until 2026 Interesting timing for the club to announce. Club takes care of its own
If you're a player, this gives you maximum confidence to join the club. It's a public statement. I actually think it's brilliant. Highly pleased with it.
Yeah, I am actually very impressed by this move. We were already going to give him an extension but signing it just a few hours after getting the devastating news that his season is over with a contract expiring the moment he's scheduled to be back is a very classy move indeed. Bravo Perez

Nothing but respect to Dani, he's a fighter. Fast recovery and I guess some backup role when he recovers.
In a way, it’s good that this happened at the very tail end of his career so there are no “what ifs”. Even if he never returns, he had a very full football life.
Class move by the club. Carva gave everything for RM and it'd have been terrible to leave him hanging in contract negotiations. Can't swindle absolute legends. Avoid scammers like Hazard, Jovic, Mariano instead for financial responsibility. TAA will be too priority for next season. Carva in a back up role and LV leaving is the likely scenario.
Realistically that 25/26 season will be his last, assuming he gets back, no relapse etc. And most likely as a sub. What a career. Added so much to the RB position which was lacking for years before his arrival.
The season will be very long and difficult for Madrid. Mbappe, Vini, Jude, Courtois, Carvajal are all either out with injury or playing with injury. Meanwhile, Barca are demolishing La Liga teams for fun.
Hopefully he comes back next season as a backup RB behind someone like Trent Alexander-Arnold. The right back market is pretty thin, there’s almost nobody out there good enough to take over from Carva.
it’s going to be interesting if LV gets an extension as well. He’s been a loyal servant of the club too, but if we sign a RB this summer he might be the odd one out.
Dani is the GOAT rightback in Madrid. He is the icon of the club. I meant that he was the boy who laid the first stone on Real Madrid Sport City standing next to Di Stefano. With six Champions League/European Cup titles to his name, he is currently on par with Gento and Modric with the most titles. With Modric's impending retirement or departure at the end of the season, there is a strong possibility that he could set a new record by securing a seventh title. Furthermore, he just became the captain. He has not lifted a big title yet as the captain. By renewing a new contract, he will have an opportunity to do all of those things I just mentioned even as a backup in the next few seasons.
I don't usually let football-related things to mess with my days, but this one made me feel awful. Really bad news for us.
I've completely disconnected with sports on an emotional level post 30 minutes to a couple hours, so if I'm honest it made me really happy we extended his contract on a human level. It really made me happy for him.
Hope he comes back even if it's for a cameo in 1-2 years. This is not the last visual of him on the pitch that I want to remember. Legend.
Absolutely. We had a similar case in Palmeiras with Dudu. He's 32-33 and came back from ACL recovery and he's clearly not the same, and is unlikely to regain his level. Of course, Real Madrid has much better structure... but I don't think he will be the same player. Not at this age. If he does come back as the old Carvajal, it will be a miracle.
