I don't think being champions vs being runners up makes any difference on what clubs are asking. All English clubs get raked over the coals on fees because English clubs have money. It's clearly an advantage being in London, having UCL, and being champions on convincing players to join.
That's been floating around for a couple weeks. Was mentioned in a WC broadcast for Congo when he was playing. Looks solid but I honestly don't think he is the right profile for us.
He’s also old for a fullback and has quite a bit of mileage on his legs. Doesn’t really make any sense.

I 100% agree. I also don't understand why we would be in as an AM/"Central Attacker" when we have MO & Eze there right now. Morgan Rogers does not make sense to me as an Arsenal target no matter how you slice it.
soooo..... 2 DM/CM, a W that is your only true creative passer, and AM that is a ball progressor but not really a tight space dribbler or creator and 2 false 9s? I can see a number of ways that Alvarez would make sense (better version of Leo at LW, SS/F9, AM/SS) but to me it feels like we have to subtract positives from the team (MO) in order to accommodate Rogers. However, I don't see the positives in Rogers that justifies that trade.

And it technically can be done without getting rid of any of our current "star" players. Sign Alvarez primarily as a LW with the idea that he can/will be used situationally as a F9 or SS. Then make sure you have a strong enough backup LW that can make it all work without a drop off.

And I was just keying off your statement: "It has nothing to do with Arsenal’s status as champions" and replying that I'm not sure I agree. Which is fine. And like many other debates, a little hard to prove?
Your stance is much easier to prove. Show examples of when being champion versus non-champion had a tangible effect on transfer dealings. Does Barcelona have a harder time in transfer windows after a season where they won the league versus one where they didn’t? Real? Bayern?
And I don't personally see him being better than Eze or MO, so I don't see the reasoning unless MO is pushing for an exit and this is our preferred replacement plan.
Seeing some rumors that Palace are showing interest in Norgaard who is said to want to stay in London if he were to leave Arsenal.
With Myles move to midfield and White potentially leaving, Arsenal would be down to 6 defenders, so I think adding a defender was always in the cards. There have been rumors about Konsa and Fresneda, and recently even a rumor about Mavropanos’ return.
White isn’t going anywhere. His injury allied to Timber’s makes it highly unlikely. Could still happen but I don’t see it. ETA: And it might be really beneficial for Arsenal.
