Maybe not? Emerson Nwaneri stays with Arsenal. After lengthy negotiations the midfielder will stay in North London. It is reported there was interest from Chelsea and City, however the player is happy at Arsenal and chose to stay. Emerson is a big prospect and will be a scholar for Arsenal. pic.twitter.com/hRMRfFoXn6— Next Generation Arsenal (@scoutingindoors) July 11, 2026
Saw another defensive link today. Supposedly we are looking at CB/RB Lutsharel Geertruida this morning. He was on loan at Sunderland this year.
With all the injury concerns at RB and RCB right now, has anyone seen any word of Marli Salmon potentially getting more minutes as a backup in either position this season? He did well a year ago in preseason matches, and I’d rather we give him more looks than most of the transfer prospects I’m seeing. if Saliba is injured and needs to sit at start of the Prem season, there are also rumors we would go after Mavropanos since WHU need to sell. Supposedly his price is ~ 21M. That doesn’t seem crazy for a decent backup, but he doesn’t excite me either.
Would this have any bearing whatsoever on the decision related to his older bro Ethan? I'm assuming not, but honestly I didn't even know he had a brother, let alone within the Arsenal fam.
Curious..... If we need/want some experienced CB depth to cover Saliba, why aren't we considering Stones? Yeah, he's a bit old but there would be no transfer fee and he can play CB, RB & DM.
It was announced a few weeks ago that his brother was gonna leave. Most assumed that was likely driven by his parents being bent out of shape over Ethan's "treatment". This news would seem to indicate that it is likely both remain associated with Arsenal. The interesting question will be if Ethan is loaned again or if they give him a shot to earn more playing time.
no thank you. He’s not consistent enough or fit enough. And as you mentioned, not young enough either
Think about it. Let's say Saliba is out for 2 months..... Play Gabi & Mos with Stones rotating. Gives you an experienced EPL vet that Arteta has worked with for no fee. When Saliba comes back, Mos moves to #3 and Stones becomes a situational super sub. Maybe he doesn't want that but it would make a ton of sense.
Hey, could we sign Nyland as our #2? Is he good enough with his feet? It seems a little crazy that he was released from Sevilla and currently has no club. Edit: After that howler of a non-save just now, gifting England their go-ahead goal in ET... maybe I should reconsider his value to us?
Ugh, other than a good save off a deflection against Brazil, I haven't been impressed (Bruno's pen was bad---it wasn't a great save). And they were saying on the Guardian podcast (can't recall the Norwegian guy's name---Lars something) that there was a lot of debate amongst fans prior to the Cup if he should be the No. 1 because most Norwegian fans don't rate him.
Nyland lost the job at Sevilla to Odysseas Vlachodimos, who you may remember from a couple seasons ago at Forest. There, he won the job from Matt Turner, and was so bad over his next 5 games that Turner re-took the job. Transitive property and all, I’m not interested.
OK, OK, I'm sold (against him). But earlier in the WC he had at least one blinder of a game I think. Sorry I can't recall which game it was.
There are major websites with rival fans that wet themselves every time we are closely linked to great players. And "that's it, the league race is over". I am thinking, ALL the big clubs in the league are buying great players. Its a given we would build on strength. Why is that such a big surprise?
Possibly completely unrelated but I've seen reports that Villa are about the gazump Newcastle for Manzambi.
per my in-depth review of YouTube scouting - Tzolis looks slow. Never seen him play but I am thoroughly unimpressed.
Leo wasn't fast either. When you are trying to breakdown a low block, quickness is FAR more important than speed. Don't know anything beyond what I see on youtube but I could see why they might like him. Also, it's WIDELY reported that he is expected to be depth.
Arsenal have heard of Illan Meslier before, right? https://global.espn.com/football/story/_/id/49314347/arsenal-sign-goalkeeper-illan-meslier-leeds
