Why are there no results ever posted for the 16's > 20's? We get a thread annoucing a tournament, like there was supposed to be one Dec. 6-9th, with all these powerhouse youth teams from all over the nation, yet no results posted on the Bradenton website or USSF youth site. There's supposed to be another big tournament this weekend, it should be over by now. anyone? Do they STILL not post scores when the national teams lose or don't do well? They used to do that, but thought we got over that hump. Guess not.
Sucks don't it? If not for the dedicated work of a dozen or so people on message boards like this, elite youth soccer would be invisible in this country.
INCREDIBLE!!!! It took about 20 minutes worth of searches, etc. to find any info on the Disney Soccer Showcase. Kevin Payne's brother runs this stuff for Disney too! Willy, what region is region IV? To draw the U17s is quite an accomplishment. They wax the hell out of most youth teams.
I heard today that the Regional teams are U-17s, but have been given many of the National players from Residency for this tourney. This means that Memo Gonzalez and others were probably playing for Region IV, and the U-17 National Team was staffed up with younger players.
Yes, somebody should have a site devoted to timely news, results and other information about competitive youth soccer and player development from ages U14 to U19, shouldn't someone? This site ideally would also cover the national teams, the whole business of college and pro prospecting, and also include thoughtful essays about all things related to the development and future of the game in the U.S. Such a site would need devotion and passion at the management level, and a willing, helpful spirit among various fanaticos all around the country. Somebody should do this and launch it on, oh, say, Jan. 10, starting with live coverage from the MLS Combine and a number of pre-written articles on youth development. It should be called Top Drawer Soccer.

Of course, the USSF fails to list the names of the 6 newbies except for Rodrigo Hidalgo. u17 players U17s were the 87s plus Gavin,memo,specter and adu. shut out by region III 1-0. Hard Fought Game. region III Defense held Adu to 1 or 2 shots. Winning goal was Header by X 17 Nat. Cameron Lewis. lots of fun to watch
The Regional sides are all 1986's, which means they are U17 teams. With most of the 86's missing from the USA U17 side, the United States fielded essentially a U16/17 side. Japan, Fulham, and AC Milan sent U17 teams. The USA v. JPN match wasn't part of the group matches, but a pre-tournamant friendly - as is the USA v.
