If it were Newcastle or Liverpool, I'd probably agree with you. But Arsenal? Only good things can come of them crashing out early. Already hard up for money, they could be put in a further crunch for failure. W/Chelsea, I don't think it really reflects all that much on the Premiership, as if they succeed... it'll be seen as a personal triumph for Abramovitch, not English soccer. I mean, when you buy as much as they have... it doesn't mean that much vis a vis the rest of the league.
Yes, a win for chelsea is a win for Italian Soccer, afterall, they are moving in the mold of Inter, AC, Juve, am I the only one who believes that if Chelsea is allowed to play in the premiership, and since they are clearly not english, that Rovers and Celtic should be allowed into the prem???
I was hoping for a poor performance from Arse since, many times when a team has a poor run of form over two games (Portsmouth, anyone?), the third game is a disaster as well (Sunday, here we come!). But who on Earth could have predicted the meltdown yesterday from the Gunners??? Jeez... Quote from Arsene about yesterday's match: "We have to work on making sure it doesn't affect us on Sunday because Manchester United won last night and are maybe on a high and we are on a low."
I'm not too over-confident despite United's and Arsenal's relative performances midweek. Historically, we've struggled on the weekend game after a European midweek match. Hopefully, we respond much better this time as it's Arsenal and not Leicester or somebody...
After the reactions to my "Crisis!" post, you should probably use the [/sarcasm] tags, just to make sure.
About something like that? Sure. Both sides of the argument make sense to me. I took your smiley more as a smirk .
