Metrosports reported that Talley has a fractured left orbital because of Ruiz's elbow shot. They don't know if it will need surgery but will decide soon. Also said he could be out 3-4 weeks.

    Damn you Ruiz.

Anybody remember how much time Diego missed last year w/ his fractured orbital?

And what does this do for the back 3? Diego would be the best choice, but how much longer is he going to be out? Does this mean Zotinca starts? In any case, it looks like Nick moves back to the middle.

I think Diego should be ready soon, within the next 2 games. I imagine Zontica will fill that space until Diego is ready.

will ruiz be fined or suspended

I'm not sure if this has been touched on yet, but has anyone heard if MLS will review Ruiz's actions? Watching the replay it appears that Ruiz measured Talley up and threw the elbow.

If anyone has heard anything please share.

Yeah, I just heard about this tonight. Apparently none of the post-match recaps bothered to mention Talley was hurt.

Ugh, I loathe that little, hacking, fish more by the day.

LOL... this makes the idiots conversation behind me even more funny. These guys were total LA homers.

Idiot LA Fan #1: "What!?!? How is that a foul on the yellow player, it was the blue player who elbowed the yellow player!"

Idiot LA Fan #2: "Yeah I know. This ref is awful! The blue player isn't even hurt, he's just laying down to waste time cause he's tired, they should call delay of game on him."

Idiot LA Fan #1: "It's funny how most of the time all it takes is a bottle of water and then the player is fine to just run around and play."

Idiot LA Fan #2: "See, look at how slow he's walking off the field, he should definately get a yellow card for delay of game."

PA Announcer: "Kansas City substitution. Alex Zontinca is replacing Carey Talley."

Idiot LA Fan #2: Completely unaware of what was just announced to the stadium...
"Now that blue team is going to have to play with 10 men or they can substitute him out."

I wanted to turn around and smack them. I probably should have chosen to save $20 and sit up top rather than 2nd row middle because at least those fans seemed into the game, but I was surrounded by morons who knew nothing about the game.

Yah, metrosports also said MLS will be reviewing it. Somehow I don't think much will come of it though because the league loves Ruiz.

I'm trying to contain my rage. I'm a huge talley fan, and this really bothers me. no question ruiz lined up the cheapshot.

I don't think the league loves him. I believe twellman got mvp last year despite ruiz leading in goals. who would you rather be the face of the league?

I have to think ruiz will get his. Wiz get 2 more games with LA. Zotinca, sharpen those studs for sept. 27 match. if no one else has ended ruiz' season by then, he better start scheduling that knee surgery for sept. 30.

It's time to go Stoichkov on his arse.

Won't it be interesting if the Golden Boot winner from '94 is remembered more for breaking a college kid's leg?

This is exactly why Alex Furgeson was saying Sol Campbell deserved the red card that he got for elbowing against ManU a couple months ago.

It is also why this type of elbowing really needs to be watched for better by the referees.

Ruiz should definitely get a couple games just as Wolyniek did.

This is just PLAIN EFFING IDIOTIC and has no place. Ruiz should be punished, but to think that someone should PURPOSEFULLY try to end someone's season or career is MORONIC.

I bet we either see Zotinca or Mr. Utlitly Armstrong start n the back until Deigo recovers.

It's a shame, but do you really think that they will suspend Ruiz with the galaxy vs. new york on espn2 this saturday?

when justice isn't delivered by the authority figures, participants find a way to make things just. this happens in real life, and this happens on athletic fields.

"Ruiz should be punished, but to think that someone should PURPOSEFULLY try to end someone's season or career is MORONIC." -Kev

kind of like how ruiz "purposefully" tried to end talley's season? have you seen the play?

I honestly dont believe Ruiz will get his any time soon. Ruiz provides for good entertainment (and a lot of rage) and the league, I dont think, will punish Ruiz for several games because of Ruiz's entertainment factor.

Personally I think Ruiz should be fined, suspended, the whole 9 yards because I hate him with a passion. I havn't gotten as much satisfaction ever as when I yelled "you suck" when he got his red.

The options are Brunt (okay, forget about it) or Zotinca if Gansler stays with a three man back line (okay I guess Graham as well). The other option is a 4-4-2 with Zotinca on the right and Armstrong on the left. This would require sacrificing a midfielder, however.

I was thinking of using a word other than satisfaction, but well its much more amusing when "satisfaction" and "you suck" are used in the same sentence.

Could that possibly be released from MLS???? Wow, maybe something will be done. Bob sure sounds pissed, and rightly so.

    More news on this....

Gansler and Johnson seem to have a pretty strong stance on this one.

    Talley sounds F-ed up. :(

Ruiz is a punk, he dishes out, but he cries like a little baby if you try to dish it back. He needs to be punished. Sadly, some folks have put him on a pedastal because he puts the ball in the net....but he can't do it while playing a clean game.

And it's not like he hurt some wimpy little guy, Talley's a bona fide stud. He's taken more than his fair share of abuse.

I'd like to see a couple of games taken from Fishy, and some serious fan backlash from around the league.

contact the Disipline Committee and let them know how you feel

Contact the Disipline Committee and let them know how you feel. If enough fans contact them they may review Ruiz more often.

Calm down, just reassuring to know DC fans are behind us on condemning Ruiz.
