West and FFK were dropped (away match) by league leading Tromsø 3-2 on sunday. West scored FFK's first goal by outracing the Tromsø defense and calmy slotting past the keeper from inside the area. FFK are in bad shape at the bottom, but are bringing in reinforcements that hopefully will give them a better shot at staying up.

Sogndal drew 4-4 away with Odd Grenland in a wild one. Russell did not play as his time with the team is now over. So I guess this isn't news of any interest whatsover, eh? heh heh

Forgive my ignorance, but is Russell's DNP due to his proposed move to Rosenborg being viewed as a done deal?

EDIT: My ignorance should not be forgiven, nor should my laziness. I looked at the other thread on RR and see that the deal appears final.

How did former Metro draft pick and current Odd Grenlander (and Canuck nat) Olivier Occean do? Rumor has it he's near the top of the league goalscoring charts.

New update, didn't figure a new thread was neccesary.

FFK and West picked up a point against Viking by drawing at home 0-0.

Sogndal took all three points at home by downing league leaders Tromso 2-1. It was Russell's last match for Sogndal.

Which leads me to note that I believe he DID play last week for Sogndal.

This marks the halfway point in the season.

Which puts these teams in a nice situation regarding qualifiers for cl and euro vase, but makes doing well into the winter break and after much more difficult, i'd think.
however, russell should be available for as much nat training /work as the BA will throw his way.

West scored the only Fredrikstad goal in a 4-1 loss to Lillestrom today.

I woould LOVE to hear from someone who sees West play in Norway-has he improved,or does the style there just suit him better?

Here's a link to the highlights of each game Frederickstad

Based on what little I've seen, he is able to outrun most defenders and can finish off the chances that he has. I never really saw him play in MLS, so how does that compare?

West really seems to be improving. He is faster than all get out and IMO, from what I've seen, is beginning to show some real awareness in and around the area. He has picked up assists through nice passing and really should have more, FFK just aren't giving him help at all.

It will depend on his contract details, but if he continues to play this way and FFK go down I doubt he'll go down with them.

FFK as a team just aren't getting the job done. West has been one of THE bright spots for the side and with a little more support he could score more goals and pick up more assists. I'd say he is their best attacking player, easily, and arguably their best overall.

I honestly hope he moves to a new side just so we have a chance to see if his growth continues. If he has to go down with this club it just won't matter how well he plays really. I think he'll get sold, if possible, as his asking price goes up with every game he plays well and FFK will need the dough, could need the dough.

in MLS, he might have been the fastest player in the league. He can fly, there is no doubt about that. He also works hard, so that is good too. But my impression was that he just could not figure out how to use his speed, and his skill was average. He has played for the US a couple of times, and again, Arena never called him back, even though right midfield is a relatively weak position for the US. Still, with his speed, maybe it took him a few years to figure out how to play with teammates. I sort of liked the guy, never understood why he was not more successful.
