Huell Howser, PBS personality and host of "California's Gold", has passed away. California is losing its biggest fan today. A transplant from Tennessee, Huell amused us all with his child-like enthusiasm and excitement over the most spectacular and most mundane sights and places in our state. A true Californian - proud and passionate about the state we call home. It's geography, its people, its history, its natural beauty. "That's amazing!" Yes, it is. I hope you found California's Gold at the end of your journey. You shared California with millions. Thank you for everything, Huell. Rest in peace.
His show was broadcast on the American Forces Network (AFN), when my family and I were stationed in Turkey (1997-2001). Since Califormia is my home state, I always appreciated getting a new good natured look at the Golden State. I hope Huell found his California Gold, as well. His love for the state goes unsurpassed!
