I find that the matches affected were only in the Champions League, but that is because they've actually reduced the number of matches shown each matchday to 3, from 4 previously. This means 2 live matches back to back on Espn, and only 1 live on Starsports, compared to 2 on each channel before this. I did actually send in feedback to the local media here, and also to the networks asking about the situation, but havent heard anything yet.

The affect on Madrid games is not intentional, i believe, but a result of the cut-back in their programming content. Someone was always going to have to be sacrificed, and with the 3 EPL teams still in it, Madrid is a convenient target  . It will be someone else, if Real wasnt in the CL. The La Liga coverage still includes all the games, as far as i've seen. Dont worry about the Barcelona game, it should be on as usual.

Hi da zen! You are so right! La Liga matches are now just reruns and they play them in the afternoons of the work week so I can't really catch them. Even before your post, I and my friend already emailed espnstar about it but i never got a response. I also watch the EPL but I can only take so much of Chelsea and Mourinho!!! Aargh... I'm from the Philippines so I guess espn star has the same programming sked in South East Asia?

I sent one a looooong time ago. They show the match 1 or 2 days after. Last season they showed it live. I don't mind waking up 1AM or 2AM to watch La liga, As long as it's live

Yeah... La Liga matches is the main important thing as it doesnt have any Highlights show or any related stuff; also when it's about requesting we should put asian countries exept Middle-east...

In UCL when the EPL teams get reduced they will show the matches... no worries on that!
The ones who have live couverage.. are really lucky!!! never miss a game guyz!!!

Thank you all for participating on this.. hop for ur support in the future!
    HALA MADRID!!!

espnstar should be providing the same coverage in the rest of southeast asia as here, and i have to say, only the champions league matches have been affected. i have yet to see a la liga game featuring madrid not televised live, even if it is at 1 or 3 in the morning. the replays are at an inconvenient time, that i agree.

as i said, coming from the past few years, where just about every real madrid game was televised(except friendlies, spanish cup games), this is a bit of a letdown. i'm hoping this is a temporary situation. torrents just dont compare to watching it live on tv(which in turn doesnt compare to being at the stadium :p )

Espnstar does not carry La Liga in Hong Kong. I think South Asia is just not a market for soccer and espnstar just decided to cut it.

Of course. As i said, till recently, pretty much every La Liga and Champions League match that madrid play was shown on tv live. To clarify, not on free access public tv, but via satellite tv(anyway, espn/starsports doesnt have a free channel as far as i know :p ).

In terms of La Liga, only Barcelona is the other team that is pretty much guaranteed getting telecast live, but recently the coverage was increased so other teams like Depor, Valencia, Betis also get slots. Its currently 2 back to back live matches per matchday(assuming that the kickoff times allow), if i remember correctly. Other than that there are delayed telecasts, highlight shows, etc.

As for Champions League, the EPL teams(recently Chelsea, but also Man U or Arsenal) always get broadcast preference, thanks to the legions of "fans" :( . But other than that, Real, Barcelona, Juve, Milan, and so on get decent coverage on cup days. As i said before, the coverage is unfortunately reduced recently, for reasons unknown.

For your convenience, have a look at the broadcast lineup provided here(though i dont know how current the schedule is, the website is bad at updating):

The local channel, Astro Supersport(with the curious initials ASS on the tv screen :p ) cover La Liga, the other 2 cover Champions League games(when they're on).

I said "South Asia" as in India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. I do not dount SE Asia's passion for La Liga.

here too they air liga twice a week but delayed. i think its not to do with passion for liga just that espn star programming is getting crappier here by the day as more and more sports channel r cropping up and snapping up telecast rights for competetions in other games too.

Yes, PPStream or PPlive........or try www.Football4less.com , although this tends to be slow...i would personally advise on PPStream through an altavista translator and all will be well. Dont know what channel the game is on but my guess is the Guandang sports channel.

Anyone knows which station is carrying La Liga in Thailand? The TV schedule for the Barcelona game rerun would be appreciated.
