From ESPN Soccernet's Twitter: @ESPNSoccernet: Someone in the Poznan crowd keeps blowing a phantom whistle in an effort to put off the players. Some thought the goal was disallowed. I heard it after Ireland's goal.
There is at least one whistle in the crowd but based on how many times I've heard it I would guess more than one.
um, I take it the linesman is a Bigsoccer user and was day dreaming about the Euro 2012 babes thread there...
Now on the first shot, two Croatia players were in an offside position. The goalscorer remained there and the attempted clearance went to him.
i know , but he kicked it against a croation player and it deflected to the striker right ? or he just miss kicked it ? coz i saw it was reflected from the croation in the box , guess i need to visit the optician soon
right but does a deflected ball enable that offside rule when the initial ball was played from the defender?
wow it did go off an Irish defender, was it Warnock? LOL - great pass nonetheless.. too bad it was to the wrong team though...
should be an OG.. Clint Dempsey scored a similar goal in the EPL vs Stoke I think it was and it was given as an OG... Just out of curiosity, why are there a bunch of people in the crowd dressed in table cloths?
Croatia i thought looked good in this game and deserved there victory..Technically superior to the Irish and Modric kept it ticking in midfield with some nice passing..Mandzukic also worked very hard up front..Defense was shaky at times and must play better against Italy..
Ha! No kidding - our back line is suspect beyond belief. Corluka shouldn't be playing CB but such is life. Strong attacking options and a weak, sloooow defense - highly unbalanced team. Still, too technically gifted in the midfield for the Irish and Bilic picked good, muscular forwards. Mandzukic was great as was Modric. Srna and Rakitic combined excellently on the right and helped keep the Irish in their own half.
Nice, entertaining match I hope Croatia continue their good performance and they will make it to the quarter-finals. But the best thing about this game was fans on the both sides, no doubt! Was so nice to hear some chants etc. I'm still ashamed for Polish sleepy pop-corn eaters who unfortunately attended the Poland-Greece game, but this is what you get when you ban club fans.
