Has anyone ordered those replica jerseys sold on E-Bay? Are they decent quality or should I just go ahead and plunk down the $64 for a real one? Sachin
Well, buying it from the guy in Thailand is obviously morally reprehensible, since you are stealing from Nike. But are you really stealing from Nike? Who's to say the guy didn't get them legitimately from Nike. And he's probably really poor, too. But, OTOH, Nike obviously only spends around $1.00 to make the jersey, so they're still making a profit and shouldn't charge so much for their gear. You've really created quite a dilemma here. I can't wait to see how this unfolds so we can reach the truth.
I got my Boca Juniors jersey from the guy in Malaysia and it is great, the same material and everything.
I got a Chelsea replica from Thailand that was pretty decent. Anything is better than spending $65 on a shirt.
I have no moral problem here. The only reason Nike and the USSF charge so much for the jerseys is because they can. I've found an alternate supplier. I just want to make sure I get decent quality. Because I have no way of returning the merchandise if it's defective. Sachin
i've read other posts on here that they look great until you wash them a couple times. then it starts getting pretty evident that you get what you pay for. buyer be warned.
Ringo I've washed mine plenty of times and nothing like that has happened. Although that could be true in some cases, my Boca jersey, which I received last Christmas is still in tip-top shape.
good for you, but I was just passing along what I heard about the U.S. replica jerseys. maybe yours boca jersey was the real deal, but there were many complaints about the u.s. replicas.
Up-close opinion I have a friend from Thailand who brought one back from the summer. He was wearing it the other day, it looked perfect and I'm sure he's worn it more than a few times. Go for it.
The only thing I would not buy are the ones without the supplier logo. Those are probably the ones that you've heard about Ringo, those definitely are knockoffs. As long as it has the logo in the picture, its good.
I bought a bunch of soccer replicas in Thailand a year and a half ago. I got them from two bucks each. Some are of good quality. some are cheap. All of them have lasted this though.
I got a USMNT (white) one and an Ireland one from Thailand on ebay in April. No problems with either plus I was able to feed my kids. Washed a lot and still was fine. BTW when I was in Ireland I bought an official Ireland shirt for my wife. I could not tell the different between the two Ireland shirts.
While this is obviously a joke, it never ceases to amaze me the number of people who assume that material costs are the only expenses a company like Nike must recoup when selling merchandise.
My son got a ManU jersey from the Thailand guy, it was perfect and I thought sticking it to Nike was a lesson in economics. The invisible hand and all.
So can anybody tell me where I might be able to find out what "the Thailand guy" is selling? I mean, I know it's ebay, but how do I make sure I'm buying from the right guy?
Way to stick it to the company that gives the USSF literally tens of millions of dollars in its sponsorship deal and has done perhaps more than any other company in the US to raise the profile of soccer in this country. With supporters like these...
Don't sell out so cheaply. Anschutz (that's Qwest here in Denver) is basically keeping MLS, which I love,in business. Doesn't mean I support his monopolistic, predatory, slave labor using, stealing, tax evading business practice either. I prefer the "Thailand guy" and would happily stick it to Nike, or Qwest and Phil any time. There sponsorship dollars are for one reason only: to generate more money to the company. I think supporting small business men is in a benefit to the global economy, which isn't trumped by Nike throwing ten minutes revenue at US soccer in exchange for all people associated with the team haaving the swoosh permanently tatooed on their bodies. I know Nike doesn't like it, but they haven't taken over the world yet, and they still have some limited competition. These capitalists can get so pissy when somebody starts practising capitalism.
I started a pre-BS crash thread about the thai guy US jersey, I love mine, looks and feels like the real thing, at 1/10th the cost. Washing and wear has not been a problem either.
