The other day my friend and I were talking about using replay in soccer. We came up with some ideas that might work. 1. Replay could only be used to determine a call or non call made inside the penalty box. For example, a penalty call or a non penalty call, or to determine if the ball crosses the goal line for a goal. No replay for any calls made outside the penalty box. 2. Each team can contest a call by asking for a replay at anytime, but the team must have atleast one subsitution left (meaning if a team has used up all 3 subs, they cannot ask for a replay). 3. Each team is given only ONE replay request per game. When a team asks for a replay, the referee will review it, if the referee's original call stands, the team who asked for the replay looses one sub, if the original call is changed, the team does not loose the sub. 4. The referee has 60 seconds to review the play, the time will then be added to the stoppage time at the end of the half. There's probably alot more things that has to be added to this, so feel free to add to it. I know it's outthere and unlikely to happen, but I think it would take some unneeded controversy out of some games.
and the refs could wear hats and the one in the center has a different colored hat and every play attack that is stopped u get 3 points and for every goal u get 7
Benfica not a bad idea one stoppage per game on a crucial call like the USA vs Germany could decide the outcome of the game. I believe was a goal and the Germany should got a red card. I am for it. Great idea as long its only one stoppage per game.
I don't know. Soccer isn't like football where there are numerous stoppages in play. One of the best parts of soccer is its continuity, and to have a replay system would break it up. FIFA should place more focus on getting qualified and unbiased officials in its tournaments, and stating clearly what its rules are concerning yellow and red cards (tackling from behind, intent, etc.).
I do like one replay per game. The coach could use it in the first minute of the game, or in the last minute of the game. One is better then none, it will be a starter.
I know what you mean, but to me it seems like an easy way of solving a bigger problem: incompetent and sometimes corrupt officiating. Example: FIFA sending referees from smaller socer nations to officiate at the World Cup, for the purpose of pushing their agenda. It just seems like putting a Band Aid on a flesh wound, that's all.
I been involve in soccer for a long time, one stop per game is not going to make a difference, will give enough time for a television commercial, and will help avoid teams losing a game, example the USA vs Germany.
