At this point I'd expect your typical bargain basement offer to MLS for Howard with them hoping to pick up a good prospect for basically nothing.
the question of this thread was replacing Howard not any other bs opinon, the guy asked who is to replace him that is all, why the long stories , why can't you guys just answer a simple question I would like to see Jurgen Sommer, DJ Countess, Tom Presthus, just to name a few .
Has DJ COuntess gotten minutes this season? I haven't gotten to see him, only his legend. It would be great to see someone with Sommer's experience back there. As much as I love Howard, Petke and Jolley, there was a lack of cohesion in the back. Granted, they were playing out of position without a left back (at least it looked like there was no left back), but I thought some of the biggest failures could have been avoided with better positioning and direction from one source. As good as Presthus has played, he just isn't a guy that inspires hope. That is something Timmy provides.
You have to figure that guys like Matt Reis and Sommer will be available.....there is a ton a keeper talent in this country, so I wouldn't be overly concerned it we did lose Tim....sure we would have a drop off (to a degree) but, that is one position I'm confident they can fill...
Who isn't better than Grafer. And with the way our defense plays, we need a goalie thats just a tad better then average.
Those were just a few names of keepers that are signed and likely going to be looking for a starting job in MLS next year.....I can't think of anyone else right now that would be an easy pick up...... who else is there??
I would have to say that Matt Reis has my vote if Tim leaves. He is equal to or better at times than Hartman and deserves a shot at a starting position. But let's all remember what team we are talking about - the Metros. With our luck, Grafer will become the starting keeper and the backup will be some 18yr. old keeper from Colombia who has some high "potential" and will needlessly use up a foreign spot on the roster. But hey, Nick knows what he is doing - right?
I'm sure if you guys wanted Sommer you could get him for a relatively cheap trade, or possibly even for free off of waivers. Just send Andy Williams back north, and Nick's dismantling of metro would be complete.
Yeah, I think DJ Countess might be ready for the big step-up next se... OH WAIT... could somebody please remind me why Nick is still our GM? Maybe Metro can use a "you suck" allocation on a new GK
How about signing American Johnny Walker of Universitad Catolica. He recently suffered a minor neck inury but is alright. He has played numerous high pressure Copa Libertadores games. Im sure the MLS and the Metros could scrap up enough funds to purchase Walker from the debt ridden Catolica club.

I'd love for Howard and Jolley to stay right here in MLS. Plus in Europe all they would do is freeze their as_ses off on the bench. Vanney is luckier - warmer area and he's playing. But look at Frankie - bench warmer being sold to a team in a even more frozen part of europe probably to turn into a bench icicle.
Not true of Walker. MLS wanted to sign him but wouldn't pay a salary that was acceptable to him. He would be an exceptional keepr in this league.
