Reasonable precautions are perfectly fine. This isn't an 1800's typhoid epidemic though. We shouldn't be panicking, but we should be rational about our behavior. Good luck to you and yours. Go Quakes!! Go Reno!! F@#$# el-lay!! - Mark
On the one hand, this is really cool. On the other hand, how long will the season be on hiatus? I don’t expect USL or MLS to restart before 1Aug20, probably later. But, it’s nearly always a good idea to sign a guy who played for Creighton. Go Reno!! Go Renofans!! - Mark
Yes, the uncertainty blows, however, better to be safe than sorry in these circumstances. Good Luck to all in Reno!! - Mark
Here is the new season and playoff format for 2020. Groups to be announced on Thursday and Friday. https://www.uslchampionship.com/news_article/show/1110593
Groups A thru D https://www.uslchampionship.com/news_article/show/1110771. Group A is Reno, Sac, Portland and Tacoma.
Lost 1-0 to Sacramento on July 19, gave up a PK in added time to lose. Match was of poor quality with lots of turn over in midfield. Sacramento did not look too impressive to me compared to previous seasons. Too many give aways on offense on our side of midfield left the defense in a mess. Great match from Beaury to keep us in it. One of his saves was save of the week in USL. Both sides had good chances to score with Sacramento having the greater amount. a smash a grab win or draw at the worst was possible with better finishing from 1868.
Beat Portland tonight 4-1. Portland looks to be a bad side this year. Team looks like SJ last season but closer to mid season form than early season. They looked good in disrupting Portland in midfield and much better on attack. If teams can get the ball past midfield then the defense is scrambling just with the defenders being more effective for 1868. On to Las Vegas Saturday.
Been awhile since I watched a game ruined by an idiot referee. I’d almost forgotten how they ruin games.
USL refs are good at that. 1868 hasn't helped out either by supposedly asking the refs to make sure not to favor the home team in Reno.
"RENO 1868 FC: Affiliate signs Quakes Academy product Ivan Valencia" (SJEarthquakes.com - Wednesday, 8/19/20) (Reno 1868 FC) GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Well, that's cool, but how old is he? How tall? What's his weight? What position specifically does he play in midfield? They could have been a little more specific, you know? Go Quakes!! Go Reno!! Go Fans!! - Mark
Our local team's media could step up a little but since all of the soccer side were released due to no fans at the games we are stuck with baseball people with plenty of time on their hands and no apparent desire to put in an effort when it comes to soccer.
Thanks, season is looking good right now and would be better if we could score against Excremento and not give up PKs so they win the games. We could be 7-0 instead of 5-2 right now. Hope the Quakes can keep the good games coming.
I don't understand the goalkeeper rotation/selection process?? And I agree with you...the website seemed lacking when I just went to looked at the rostered player list, although it was a couple of weeks ago.
Neither do we on the keeper rotation. I wonder if it has to do with whomever is practicing best prior to the upcoming match. It sounds as though we will not have any players from the Quakes this year, also. There is a lot of stress in the FO over no fans in the stadium. They have been pushing hard but with the county not meeting opening criteria they are being told no go. As to the roster and website the baseball and soccer sides never got along so since there are no soccer people the website is likely to be neglected even though there are no baseball games in AAA this year. It will be interesting to see what happens when our affiliate agreement runs out. I believe it was supposed to end this year. Our owners sound as though they will not support a team without such an agreement and will not build a soccer specific stadium if it is required by USL.
Won’t Sacramento be interested in a USL team when they enter MLS? Seems like your location would be perfect for them to affiliate with.
We have been thinking that is a possibility. We would prefer the Quakes over Sacramento due to the rivalry, but I think we will adjust just fine. We will just have to see what happens after the end of the season. Or maybe next depending on how it all goes. Have you heard anything about USL East Bay? Seems pretty quite on that front.
Haven’t heard about East Bay or Monterey Bay. Frank Yallop was involved with the Monterey Bay group but he is now the coach at Las Vegas. If the Quakes do switch to one of those new franchises I bet they try to get Ian Russell to coach there. When is his contract up in Reno?
The USL East Bay stadium proposal in Concord was abandoned, but it seems like the owner is still squatting on the territorial rights. https://www.sfgate.com/sports/article/USL-East-Bay-Concord-stadium-project-dropped-15270248.php
