Steve Shak has been waived by the Colorado Rapids. He may end up with the Minnesota Thunder. He was loaned there for about 6 games last season and impressed the coach.
all hail oz.... his choice will be in the a-league... while garcia and bocanegra may start for the nats...
I remember people were in shock when Shak was picked that high, but if I recalled correctly, it wasn't OZ's decision. It was the GM's rather.
Hey, you're not alone. Dallas took Aleksy Korol at #3, passing on Bocanegra. At least Dir was fired at the end of the season, and I can't imagine that pick helped.
You recall incorrectly. Shak played for OZ on his youth team in Orange County and sold Nicko that Shak was the real deal. Ha.
No. Shak was a Zambrano pick all the way. Shak played at UCLA while Zambrano was coaching the Galaxy and had earlier played for a PDL team that Zambrano had coached. Korol was taken at #5. Bocanegra was already selected at #4.
OZ passed on Buddle twice. In the 2nd round to take Faria and in the 3rd round to take Kerwyn Jemmott who ended up being cut.
Where is Manny Ndayia, the 7th pick of the 2002 draft if my memory is correct??? That one was special. Did he play soccer last year at all anywhere?
Good luck to the Thunder if they take him. I watched him play against Richmond last year and he was single-handedly responsible for the loss. He lost his mark for 2 goals and was then ejected to give Richmond a man advantage...They scored in OT to win it.
Yes, but Dallas had the #3 pick and traded it to Colorado which took Adin Brown. We could have chosen Bocanegra instead of Korol.
Pretty sure Buddle was an SEM gerrymander to Columbust all the way. Perhaps overdue compensation for losing players to ingerland. So probably have to give Zzzzzambrahman a pass on this one.
Yeah, my impressions of his play with the Thunder last year were underwhelming at best. However some Thunder fans who traveled to Milwaukee for the Thunder's season ending playoff loss say he played very well in that game and was their MOTM.
I'm not positive, but I think I heard he went back to school - or maybe it was back overseas. Either way, it is just another example of Metro management's futility...
