Just a friendly reminder that practically everyone who watches the game(s) tomorrow will be watching them on tape delay. Please don't reveal results in titles and please place an [R] in the title of threads that discuss or will discuss results.

So is it fair game to give away the results of games in threads discussing other games?

More specifically, it was a post-game thread (US -v- Turkey). I personally think that discussion of other results in the group are fair game in a post-match thread.

It would be totally different if a PbP or pre-game thread had spoilers in them.

    Dr. Wankler,

Sorry if I was not explicit enough in the original post. How's this?

Don't give away ANY ************ing results for any ************ing game if there's not an [R] in the thread title. And, don't post any ************ing results in any ************ing titles.

    Better?

    Nancy

The answer is no -- although people do it and it's hard to enforce. If I see people giving away other results I usually delete them or re-name the thread to warn that the result is in it, but as with other spoilers, if you absolutely don't want to know the result, the best thing to do is avoid the forum where results (such as Brazil vs. Cameroon) are likely to be discussed.

Actually, I don't think that answered the doctor's question. If the title has an [r] and references a specific game, does that mean that you can discuss the results of any game or only the specific game mentioned?

Some appear to think that is acceptable. I don't agree, but can at least proceed with caution now being warned.

I'm gonna have to do you one better and say you should probably avoid Big Soccer.

But, I'm sure there are many poeple on these boards who couldn't fathom a day at work without 90% of it being on BigSoccer, so I sypathize anyway.

    Yeah, yesterday was boring! :)

But I was able to keep from finding out the score, so it was worth it.

Well, this thread isn't really meant for a debate about the policy -- it will continue to exist whether people agree with it or not -- but there are lots of folks that are on BigSoccer who may not want to have a game spoiled - moderators, non-US fans who still want to watch the replay unspoiled, etc. Heck, I wanted to come post immediately after the US game, but I figured the Brazil game would be spoiled somewhere so I didn't - which was annoying, especially since my efforts to calm my frustration during the US game meant I ended up passing out during the Brazil game and missed almost the whole thing anyway.

Fair enough. For the record, I wasn't complaining on my behalf, as we don't have enough Latinos in these parts to warrant Spanish-language TV, so it's not like I'm taping any of these games. Just wondering about others, though.

And Flan: glad you show some sympathy for people with jobs that would be way more boring w/o Bigsoccer ;)

BTW Nancyb: we all love it when you talk dirty, too.

A veiled insult of France. Now, that would be very original on Bigsoccer.

Or as Nancy would say, "that would be ************ing original as all ************ing ************!"

I think it should be a policy of BS not to let anyone who has actually seen or heard the game contribute to these threads, as the tone of their posts may give away the results.

    Thankyou.

I thought this policy was already in full effect...
