The problem with conspiracy theories is not facts, but how the facts are put together, and the conclusions that are reached.
    Action A happened
    Unrelated action B happened
    Unrelated action C happened.
A single person was seen in proximity to actions A, B, C, therefor, it is a conspiracy and the truth is being hidden.

The moon landing in 1969. It was filmed at a sound stage. Obvious. The moon has no wind, so how come the flag is straight out. Everybody knows this.

The internet has doomed us. We're not even going to need AI but that's going to move us very quickly towards extinction, perhaps for the best?

The moon landing was real. They burned every copy of the fake one filmed on a sound stage because the real one actually worked.

OTOH, it is absolutely bonkers we made it to the moon with less technology than a friggin GameBoy and haven't been back with much more technology than a top-level military plane built in 2022.

Just let that thought simmer for a moment.

Another fun fact: If you put your two hands together and have one represent Earth and another represent the moon, then Mars is something like the equivalent of 25-30 feet away. There's no way to litter up Mars without using the moon as a second launch pad.

Why would we go back? There's nothing interesting there, and it would be really expensive to go there again. I mean, if China or India or some private company wants to do what NASA did fifty-plus years ago, they can go for it.

This. There's no profitable science to do there. There is barely any to do in low earth orbit. The US civilian space program existed to help finance and develop the military one, and the military one no longer needs that.

The only reason we are discussing Mars now is because a coven of billionaires who believe they are going to upload their consciousness into supercomputers to commune with their AI god want it to be so. And THAT is EXACTLY as crazy as all of human space exploration sounds to me.

I said a while ago here…there is absolutely NOTHING human beings could do to the earth that would make it less habitable than either the moon or mars. And even if we did somehow figure out how to ******** the earth up that badly…any life on the moon or mars would require support from earth and therefore would be dead anyway. Human space flight is a colossal waste of money and resources

Have you read A City on Mars? It lays out just how unlikely we are to be able to support life on Mars (while humorously investigating questions about procreation in space).

Part of the problem would be that weightlessness would weaken bones. As a consequence, women giving birth would likely have their hips broken in the process.

Assuming the fetal skeleton could support the rest of the body, that is. It’s possible that the baby and the placenta would have a similar consistency.

I wasn’t thinking of the birthing part. More the banging part….and the challenges associated with weightless banging and the lack of leverage.

Anyway we did go back? Multiple landings in the last few years under a NASA programme IIRC

Sending humans is the dumb part
