You can imagine my excitement when I got home from work today and discovered a gift from my employer in the mail: a Wexner Medical Center branded umbrella, commemorating the new $2B hospital that just opened last month. A dream come true and just what I needed! FWIW, I don’t work in the med center but on the academic side of campus, so I have no clue why they sent me an umbrella. Unless, perhaps, they anticipate a major branding update in the near future and they just want to dump a bunch of inventory. Gotta admit, it is a decent umbrella.
https://news.sky.com/story/epstein-scandal-how-the-paedophile-financier-made-his-millions-13503187 Since our media isn't doing a good job reporting, I jumped across the pond. Sounds like Wexner was a big reason for the rise of Epstein. From the article: How much did he rake in, and how did he do it? The extent to which the revenue he generated - largely tax-free - from his clients and from investments was legitimate, is one of the big questions hanging over Epstein's activities. He certainly evaded regulations covering financial advisers, lawyers, and accountants globally by painting himself as a consultant. A review by Forbes showed that two individuals accounted for the bulk of the fees that Epstein's vehicles attracted. First, J Epstein & Co managed the financial affairs of the US billionaire Les Wexner - the long-time boss of Victoria's Secret. He was found to have paid Epstein $200m until they parted ways in 2007.
Mega douche SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Salesforce employees are reportedly up in arms after CEO Marc Benioff made a joke about ICE agents monitoring international employees at a company event Monday. Benioff was speaking in Las Vegas for the company’s annual Salesforce Company Kickoff leadership event when he reportedly made the comment. According to Wired, Benioff asked his international employees to stand up to thank them for attending and then he joked that U.S. Immigration and Customers Enforcement (ICE) agents were in the building monitoring them. https://www.kron4.com/news/technolo...okes-about-ice-at-company-event-in-vegas/amp/
One thing that drives me nuts is that in our discourse, people say this all. The. Friggin Time. When what they mean is there is no PROOF. Of course there’s evidence, there’s an absolute shit ton of it. She’s a lawyer, and she is pretending not to know the difference between evidence and proof.
Give Trump credit for understanding how comprehensively corrupt elites were in 2015, and of course still are today.
I've always found these Congress hearings to me nothing more than theater. At least the ones I've watched ... partially because I honestly can't stand watching too much of it.
This tweet has an image. If you blow it up enough, you will see that Pam Bondi’s prep binder has a page dedicated to what documents from the Epstein files Rep. Jayapal looked at. IOW, the administration is spying on congressmen when they look at the files. NEW: I just spoke to @RepJayapal about AG Bondi’s binder page “Jayapal-Pramila search history” that seemed to include what Jayapal looked for at DOJ when viewing unredacted Epstein files. “It's totally inappropriate,” Jayapal told me. “Is this is whole reason they opened [the… pic.twitter.com/OvZ54pDsqi— Ali Vitali (@alivitali) February 11, 2026
The thing is, as far as tech CEOs go, he's supposed to be one of the good ones. Larry Ellison, Jeff Bezos, Peter Thiel, guys like that are ********ing assholes, but Benioff and Salesforce aren't bribing the Trump administration or bending over for them like so many other tech companies are. But no, he turns out to be just another out of touch tech bro asshole. Edit: I wanted to add that unlike all those other tech bros, Benioff actually does charity. There's no Larry Ellison Emergency Care facility or Peter Thiel University of the Liberal Arts, but there is a UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in San Francisco and Oakland. Still... out of touch jackass.
This feels almost quaint to mention in a week where the president posted super-racist content about former President Obama and his wife on his social media account, but one other thing about the Pam Bondi hearing that struck me: decorum and tone are so deep in the crapper in U.S. politics. The sight of the Attorney General of the United States referring to a sitting congressman as a "loser lawyer". Just one of the many remarks she made that diminished and tarnished the dignity of her office.
I should note that Neguse is my rep. And I'm seeing a fair bit about his asking about Wise and Bondi's poor response. The thing I think is getting missed is that Bondi knew who it was, as if she knew it was coming. He's a "senior advisor," not a higher up.
Our MSM. If you get away from that, there is a lot about the connection between Epstein and Wexner. Of course, there is so much that it takes multiple stories/episodes to cover it all.
THIS. The collapse of any baseline level of decorum or decency was arguably part of Trump's initial appeal to a lot of voters who think coarseness & vulgarity = authenticity. But here we are, and I don't know how we fix it.
Yes. I really do think that whatever chance we have for a better politics in this country will have to come from the ground up. A critical mass of Americans will need to unplug from the algorithms, ditch the culture-war identities, and start living our lives in face-to-face communities and focusing on being decent and living with integrity, prudence, and other uncool qualities. We need to tear it down to the studs and rebuild our entire society so that a better politics can emerge. Am I optimistic about that? Hardly.
Yeah, for some reason this Simpson's clip is what first came to mind. Not 100% appropriate to the comment, but conveys the skepticism of it all.
I don’t think I posted it, but in my nightly wander through Twitter there was one saying that Bondi had a stack of note cards with insults for specific congressmen, and she was shuffling through them to find the one for Raskin, for Lofgren, etc.
Yeah. The hearings isn't where anything is found out. It is 100% theater and a way for the congresscritters to get their media clips. It's behind the scenes of these meetings where the staffers are collecting documents and creating the reports on what the hearings are investigating.
Laws & norms mere suggestions to this criminal regime. Impeachable offenses each day. https://bsky.app/profile/carlquintanilla.bsky.social/post/3meml2txous2a
Not sure where I saw it, but I think Raskin has noted that he thinks DOJ is spying on Dems because there is a photo Jayapal's computer with an Epstein search or document up. And it is labeled as Jayapal's search. Found it: https://apnews.com/article/epstein-files-bondi-raskin-13eeb9ccadcc03ba34922d8ba95ce220 A top Democrat is calling for a watchdog investigation after photographs emerged suggesting that the Justice Department has been tracking the search history of lawmakers who are reviewing files from the Jeffrey Epstein investigation. Rep. Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, asked the Justice Department’s inspector general to investigate what he characterized as “spying” on members of Congress who this week have reviewed less-redacted versions of the Epstein files at a department annex and on department-owned computers. Photographs taken during Attorney General Pam Bondi’s hearing before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday showed her holding a binder open to a page that said “Jayapal Pramila Search History” and that listed a series of documents that were apparently reviewed. Pramila Jayapal is a Democratic congresswoman and was among the Judiciary Committee members who pressed Bondi during the hearing about the department’s handling of the Epstein files.
