Not to excuse him on the Olsen twins thing ... but one of the popular jokes of the late 90s and early 2000s was "when will the Olsen twins turn 18 and become legal". It was a joke I saw quite often being thrown around. There were countdown websites created. It was basically part of pop culture. I think everyone here who lived in the US at that time knows about it. So there was a sexualization of them early into their teenage years. Not sure if he wrote that joke or SNL writers ... either way, also noteworthy that they joke was approved by the show and the editors at a show which was on public television. So that just tells you what the environment was like at the time. The song part ... well that's all on him.

Maybe....sort of. How much are they pumping Bill Clinton? Dems are not coming to the defense of B Clinton and that, I think, it taking away from the faux outrage that Fox promotes. Because Dems are more interested in looking for the Truth (capital "T") than going after specific people who hold political positions or views. So if Obama or Biden were in there as having partaken, the Dems would be shocked, then outraged, then "burn them." And that would have taken away a lot of the purpose of Fox promoting them.

There was a tiny bit of pushback against him around the MeToo movement's peak. He is also ninety and a lot of older auteurs who aren't carrying his kind of baggage have said they are struggling to get their movies financed so I'm not even sure he ultimately paid any professional price at all.
