I’m a bit disappointed that I have to post the timeline here. Epstein’s DOJ deal…which included pleading guilty to state charges….was in 2008. Bondi became Florida AG in 2011. His second trial by DOJ was in New York. Bondi had nothing to do with the Epstein plea…it was complete two and a half years before she became the Florida AG.
And it also seems that the DoJ attorney (Gonzales?) was pretty much acting on his own and didn't run the plea by his boss. Or he didn't run it by his boss with all the relevant details. I don't think we factually know, but it seems pretty clear that Epstein dangled a lucrative job offer in front of Gonzales (?) in exchange for a very, very lenient plea, and Gonzales took it.
