Accosting Acosta ... Tuesday’s Senate hearing featuring FBI Director Kash Patel didn’t shed a ton of light on the substance of the Jeffrey Epstein files. But it was hugely significant in another way: It signaled a new political effort by the Trump administration to ascribe blame. And the target is none other than a former top Trump administration official – one whom Trump very notably once defended. Testifying to the Senate Judiciary Committee, Patel seemed to make a point to fault Alexander Acosta, who was US attorney in Florida in the late 2000s and cut a nonprosecution agreement with Epstein. That deal came during the George W. Bush administration, years before Trump in his first term picked Acosta as labor secretary. Patel twice brought Acosta up unprompted, including in his opening statement, during Tuesday’s hearing. “I’m here to testify that the original sin in the Epstein case was the way it was initially brought by Mr. Acosta back in 2006,” Patel said at the start of the hearing. With a statement like this does it mean Patel is an idiot, he believes the senators are idiots or both.
I don’t think Patel thinks in terms of plausible or implausible. Because he’s a fascist. Incredibly obvious lies are one of our fascists’ favorite weapons. The lies assert the powerlessness of the listener, and also contempt for the listener. Or maybe it’s just laziness…as they get away with increasingly implausible lies, they get more and more sloppy about lying.

Or truth is no longer relevant. As long as their supporters buy it, the rest doesn't matter, and since MAGAts are in a cult and, it hurts to be wrong, they'll double-down again and again and again, because that's how cults work.
I don't think MAGA has been quiet about the current admin not releasing the files. Some have tried to come with alternative narratives. Probably true to say they've stopped at blaming Trump though ... the blame has gone to Bondi and Kash.
Kash probably would do something if he could get over the fact he saw his parents having sex. I have no other explanation for those eyes.
MAGA has not gone quiet, but the voices have grown softer as Democrats are generally, "expose the bad people," and Republicans don't have a response to that. In addition to clearly having Trump in the files/book.
The nose thing is quite common. He does seem to have a slightly lazy eye that’s just perceptible, making you wonder if you are going nuts or not. None of that explains his “that wasn’t a fart. It was a shart!!!” Look on his face.
I'd say it's crazy how fast MAGA pivoted to not wanting the list released, but we all saw it coming. How many of them voted to "own the libs" and now Daddy won't do it. But hey, at least eggs and gas are way down!
