BTW, if I were the monkey's heed, I would not sell my shares in the club.

Unfortunately likeable doesn't equate to competent.

Trust an American to put Reyna in front…:)

I think Reid put all his eggs in Super Kev’s basket and they fell through the cracks.
    So who’s his replacement…???

They should have either let him go in the summer or not given him £15m and then not let him see how the new signings pan out. He was always going to be to strong headed to walk - it had to be a move from the club if he was to leave.
He is one of the few totally honest managers in football, and you could always guarantee a good laugh in Yarm if you bumped into him.

    Three favourites:

O'Leary (won nothing despite spending a fortune)
    Robson (see above)
Graham (successful but a similar style of football to Reid)

    Outsiders:

    Peter Taylor
Alan Shearer (you can get odds of 66-1 on him - they should be much bigger but I think the bookies must know something:))

You're Boro_lad, but I hope the monkey's heed doesn't sell them because those shares actually are worth something....and FWIW, he really doesn't need to ever work again.

I might be wrong, but should he choose to manage again, he would have to forfeit his shares.

I don't think he was stupid enough to put all his eggs into a one-year wonder such as Little Kev.

Yeah, and if Shearer did that, he'd suffer a fate on Tyneside as terrible as Gazza.

Its not a surprise. You go through 2001-02 with a 3-5-2 build up offense that doesnt work and you replace it for the new season with a 3-5-2 build up offense that doesnt work. Reid is a good footballing mind but he lost the teams attention and he wasnt getting it back.

In these circumstances the word "sacking" is rather harsh. Reid had done a great job over the years to establish Sunderland as a Premiership team. He's just run out of ideas so the board want to someone else to come in. If he was 10 years older they might have "moved him upstairs".

I've heard that John Gregory is one of the favourites to take over.

    Ha! Good One!

No way Shearer would take the position. Some Geordie would lose it and there’d be an assassination attempt at the next northeast derby....

David O'Leary seems to be the bookies favorite.
