Coventry have confirmed Peter Reid as their new manager.
Reid, who has also had spells as manager of Manchester City and Sunderland, has been out of work since parting company with Leeds last November.

Deano says: It will be very interesting to see how he does here as he'll have next to no money. Did a good job in revitalising Sunderland at the time, but he had money to spend there !! Thoughts anyone ?

Actually Coventry fans are far from happy at the moment as they were doing well under Eric Black. Reid has a hard job on, both on and off the pitch.

I thought Eric Black was doing a resonable job, considering he had no money and not even a full seaon in charge. I suppose the board thought that Reid is a bigger name and has plenty of experience, 1st division experience at that.

    Time will tell.

nobody in their right mind would be pleased about being managed by peter reid .Just look at the state of his last two clubs ,leeds and sunderland.

Reid saved Leeds from relegation this time last season. OK the start to the current one was far from impressive, but what he did whilst in charge of Sunderland he has to be given alot of credit for. He got them back in the top flight, and gained 2 consecutive 7th place finishes before their money problems started to take over. I don't think he is as bad as some make out.

Reid's clubs haven't exactly played textbook beautiful footy. But they've done well and he's gotten results. Look at Leeds. Knowing they squeeked by last year, he tried to improve them on the cheap with loans. Things didn't go great. But what has Gray done with the same players?

As for Sunderland, he did well overall. Yes, the team tanked. But that can happen to good, that is better than average, managers. Just look at Strachan at Coventry a few years ago.

To me the 2 biggest challenges for Reid will be overcoming the fans disbelief. Walking in after Black was canned isn't a good start. And the other is not having any money to improve the team. I think he will cope the latter just fine. But if things don't go well at the start, winning over the fans before a revolt will be practically impossible.

Tomorrows final game of the season for them isn't an easy one against Crystal Palace. They are at home, but Palace need only a draw to reach the end of season play-offs.
