Fingers crossed...real shame this...not only will he probably miss out on cementing an Ireland place but it means that Premiership Clubs might not move for him till next season... Closey I'm out for the season - Steven Reid As you probably know, I was stretchered off during our victory at Bradford on Saturday with a knee injury and the news isn't good. I had a scan on the injury on Monday and it confirmed there was a tear in the medial ligament which will keep me out of action for six weeks, which means my season for Millwall is now over. It will be a few weeks before I can do even light work and with our last league game of the season at home to Coventry on May 4, realistically there's no chance of me being involved with the first team again. Overall, it's been a season to forget really and has ended as it began. I missed the first three months of the campaign with an ankle injury I picked up in pre-season and now this. I suppose I've just been unlucky because there is nothing wrong with my preparation or fitness and although both my injuries have been a direct result of going in for tackles, I won't change my style of play. Realistically there's no chance of me being involved with the first team again. The good news, however, is I should be ready for the Republic of Ireland's Euro 2004 qualifiers against Albania and Georgia in early June if my rehabilitation goes according to plan. I haven't spoken to Brian Kerr yet but there should be no problem with my fitness for these two crucial games and hopefully I will have chance to speak to him soon and let him know my situation.
What I want to know is what was he doing playing in a meaningless middle of the table Nationwide Div 1 match 3 days after being declared 'unfit' to play in a vital European Championship qualifier?
