Telemundo I sat down last night ready to watch the US vs. Mexico game and low and behold it wasn't on! What gives? My DirecTV guide listed the game on both Telemundo stations (405-406 in my area) and neither had the game. Instead they were showing Godawful sitcoms and a dedication to Prince. I'm at a loss here, it was listed on multiple websites as being on Telemundo at 8:30 last night, and it was listed on my on-screen guide as being on both Telemundo channels. Yet nothing! I sure hope this doesn't happen again, I don't understand how some of you watched the game while I couldn't. Why do we have to watch the game through Telemundo anyway? This is ridiculous! Unless you have FoxSports package your screwed, and who wants to pay for that for something you will watch like twice a year. Anyway, just curious as to why I wasn't able to watch the match. Any thoughts????
Re: Telemundo Telemundo is available on DirecTV PARA TODOS, but NOT DirecTV. Note that you need the 20-inch wide oval dish in order to get Telemundo even if you have DirecTV Para Todos. The 18-inch narrow oval dish does not receive channels from the 119 degrees west orbital slot from which both Telemundo feeds were broadcast. I know for certain that Telemundo aired the match live coast-to-coast.
Sounded to me like he was trying to watch the game through his local Telemundo stations (via Directv), not the national feed. Are there really two local Telemundo stations in Louisville? Sure you weren't looking at Univision or Telefutura?
Let me explain a little further. I have an eliptical dish, I receive two Telemundo channels via my direct tv package, neither channel had the game on. However, both channels had the game listed in the on-screen guide as being on at 8:30PM. I don't know why or why not, but I was curious if someone else had this same problem, or a solution as to what I can do. I also have Galavision and Univision, which are a completely seperate thing. Any ideas?
I'm going to double check my guide when I get home from work, but I am positive I have two Telemundo channels. But for the sake of removing human error I will take a look. Well I just called the wife on the cell, and I do indeed have these two channels. It just doesn't make any sense, I mean they were both showing the game in the guide. Frustrating! It's hard work being a soccer fan, when your trying to catch BIG GAMES on Telemundo, Galavision, Univision, Telefutra (sp) and so forth it's plain desperate. This sucks. I can watch my football and hoops teams in English any night of the week, but for soccer I have to hope Telemundo or some other screwball network is airing the game. This is why soccer suffers, it's too hard to watch a game for those who know where to look. So how are those that haven't seen the product supposed to be exposed? It's plain pathetic for such a great sporting event to have to resort to second class airing for it's own peoples. I understand if I lived in Mexico or Spain that I would have to watch the USA compete on these channels, but this is the US! Can a fan get a little help here?? Sorry for the rant, but this issue I had with Telemundo (or DirecTV) is a microcosm of the real problem at hand. Lack of exposure for the US National team.
If you subscribe to DirecTV Total Choice, then you do NOT get the two Telemundo feeds even though they are listed in your on-screen programming guide. The only Spanish-language channels available with DirecTV Total Choice are Univision (East Feed only, channel 402) and Galavision (East Feed only, channel 404) You have to subscribe to DirecTV PARA TODOS packages: Opcion Extra Especial or Opcion Ultra Especial, in order to get Telemundo's east and west feeds (405 and 406). DirecTV Para Todos subscribers receive in the mail their monthly programming advertisement inserts in Spanish, not English.
there are about 5 spanish channels that all have the sam logo. it took me 10 mins to finally find the right station.
The only downside I've found is that I don't get ESPN Classic (rarely watched) and BBC America (drat!)
Or, better yet, you could subscribe to Fox Sports World and still complain. Then you'd be a real BigSoccer.com poster.
No offense, but this game was on three networks. I don't get any of them, but that's on me and my cable system, not the USSF or anyone else.
Pardon me for going way off-topic, but I need to rant about something that happened to me 6 years ago and about which I never ranted before. My worst cable screw up. It was the first game France 98, I believe it was Brazil-Belgium. Suddenly in the middle of the first half, my cable goes out completely. Even though the game was on 2 stations (english & spanish), there was no cable service. Called up, but as I was waiting to speak to someone I saw a cable worker out on a pole near my backyard. I went out to talk to him. He was doing service for a neighbor and had to disconnect all the lines. Took about 30 minutes until I got the service back. I'm glad I finally did this rant!
Back to the guy's question - what was he seeing on those channels then, if he doesn't really get Telemundo? I'm just curious because as a Dish customer, I know that channels only available on dishes that I don't have don't even show up on my guide. And if there are channels I don't subscribe to that DO appear on my guide, selecting them just brings up a "you are not subscribed to this channel" window.
It took me awhile to find my initial thread, it's been moved to a different location. SOrry if I posted in the wrong forum, but now that I found it . . . I am unsure of what package or deal I have, but I will find out. I know that I ordered the full set of spanish speaking channels in order to avoid this from happening awhile ago. However it still happened. I have both 405-406, as I could watch programming on them, it just wasn't the game. A special dedicated to Prince, and some crappy soap opera or something. I just don't understand why so many people were able to catch the match, and I received a different feed on the same channels.
I'm actually speaking with a DirecTV csm right now, hopefully I can figure out a solution to save someone else the grief I am going through. We'll see . . . My package is HD Total Choice plus (yes I have HDNET, but I didn't think of looking there for the game, I will next time) with Starz and HBO. This also includes Galavision and Univision, but NOT Telemundo East or West. The rep said since I can receive signals from all three satellites (using the elliptical dish 3 LMBs) that I may be getting the signal by accident. I'm going to check the programming tonight to see if I am getting the same program as the on-screen guide, or if it is still acting up and doing what it was during the game (not matching the on-screen menu which said the game was on). We'll see. The rep also said I can't get the Telemundo channels without having Para Tordos or one of the Spanish Speaking packages. Which I don't have, yet somehow I recieve the channels, but the guide doesn't match what is on. He said it was an anomaly in which it will always be hit or miss, which works for me since I don't pay for it. Very bizarre, hopefully it will fall out my way next time as I don't see myself spending any loot on that. I'll be tuned into HDNET next time
I'm in south Jersey area and i watched US-Mexico on Telemundo eventhough i don't understand spanish because i like the commentator.
Just curious Madd Skillz if you can get Telemundo on Insight in Louisville? I can get it on Insight's Classic package in Lexington. Sorry you missed the game.
