Well SueB you got your wish, all i got to say is Reggina better not drop now to make this loss worthwhile. The lineup we had was not as 2nd string as you would think. I wonder what was Lippi's idea with this lineup or was he just mailing it in, he deserves a weekend off though p

I saw RAI interview with Bettega before the game. I don't know THAT much Italian, but I did hear something to the effect that the guys who had played on Wednesday had left everything on the field and were getting a well-deserved rest. Makes sense to me. Why play tired players in a game which means nothing to Juve? Of course, Juve' "second string" is probably better than Reggina's first team on a day when it matters.
Supposedly, they were passing the ball around a lot and didn't shoot much. The only goal they scored was when the Reggina keeper handed it to Zalayeta on a plate. This is, unfortunately, the norm in end-of-season Serie A clashes involving teams with no incentive. Atalanta-Como was the same. Como was a man up but somehow managed to give up 2 goals in the second half, including one where Doni (DONI!!!) was standing all alone in the box for about a minute. Not that I'm suggesting anything that has never been suggested before ....... :(

    The starting lineup...

Buffon (2' st Chimenti); Iuliano, Fresi, Montero; Zenoni, Camoranesi (11' st Olivera), Conte, Paro (25' st Zambrotta), Pessotto; Di Vaio, Zalayeta. (15 Birindelli, 26 Davids, 38 Pederzoli, 43 Gastaldello).

If you are Lippi you could...

    a) Play all your starters in a meaningless game against Reggina and risk an injury or further exhaustion.

    b) rest your starters for the Champions League final.

What would you do? What would any sane person do?
