Trans people should consider leaving this shithole Brian Glenn tells Trump that "a lot of people are threatened" by the transgender flag because "it means a lot of negative things to people. Violence." https://bsky.app/profile/atrupar.com/post/3lyvr3p44ip26
Didn’t take too long for the commenters to point out the obvious irony of the party of confederate flags, nazi flags, and Trump flags denouncing someone else’s flag.
There is a very good chance Trump Co will try to designate the LGBTQ+ flag a symbol of hate or similar, via EO. It's going to be a focus point.
She's a RW congresswoman. Everything she says and does has real world consequences. She went Scottsboro on a Black man sometime a couple years ago. That's something none of us can ever defend ourselves against.
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/tr...ller-vengeance-charlie-kirk-murder-rcna231329 Vance cited numbers from a YouGov survey, conducted after Kirk's assassination, in which 24% of respondents who described themselves as “very liberal” said it was “always” or “usually” acceptable to be happy about the death of a political figure they oppose. Only 3% of those who described themselves as “very conservative” answered that way. So I see the freedom of speech party forgot what a bot is.
You just know some dipshit is going to propose the Keeping It Real Ksomething bill in Congress. I just wonder what’s gonna be in that monstrosity. Or the Comprehensive Holistic Act Regarding Liberty In Education bill. Left, right, or center, always be super skeptical about laws named after people.
So, wait. He wants people to come here to train American citizens while ICE and the National Guard are running around arresting anyone who doesn't look like they belong...amirite?
The writing has very clearly been on the wall for quite some time. The difference is now they have added neon lights and sirens to it. I took a lot of flack in March 2024 in The Joe Biden Presidency I: Hallelujah thread when I posted that many LGBT+ were upset about Biden agreeing not to fly the Pride flag at American embassies. Many here told me the LGBT+ community needed to think of the greater good and "take one for the team". In post #9732 of that thread I wrote: Biden gave an inch and now Republicans are taking 500 miles and I proclaim they will surely take 500 more. edit: I should also note that the removal of the Pride flag at embassies was included in Project 2025: "Divisive symbols such as the rainbow flag or the Black Lives Matter flag have no place next to the Stars and Stripes at our embassies" (page 89 in the Project 2025 manifesto). In other words, Republicans were already implementing Project 2025 before Trump even reclaimed the presidency. Those who were arguing we should "take one for the team" were actually helping implement Project 2025's aims against the LGBT+ community. So thanks for helping them get the ball rolling on their deadly agenda against the LGBT+ community.
Your post was very prescient in that I have seen more than one so-called progressive suggest that the trans community has to take a backseat for a while until they can sort out "this mess", as if a minority's rights being trampled on shouldn't always be a priority of a self-professed progressive party.
Also how do you come out of the 2024 election cycle thinking the problem was that the Dem campaign went "too woke"? Liz Cheney was made a front-facing part of the campaign effort. Adam Kinzinger spoke at the DNC. Mooch, Stephanie Grisham were featured in party outreach messaging. I think one of the lessons was that the whole "country over party" tactic that gave prominence to Never Trumper Conservative voices within the Dem campaign was an obvious mistake. It was probably more successful at turning away some progressives than it was at attracting any right-leaning centrist voters.
They're mindless bots themselves, (sect) programmed to spread the word of their liar ..uhm ...leader.
I'm going back and reading that entire discussion, which started about page 383 of the Joe Biden Presidency thread. I find it helpful to look back at what I and others said with the benefit of knowing what has actually happened (including identifying where I was wrong). I just arrived at your post #9748 which summed up the entire discourse quite well: The attitude by most here at the time was that we should compromise with the GOP. They failed to understand that compromising with fascists only benefits the fascists. And to toot my own horn, here is what I said in post #9898 followed by a response by Yoshou #9911:
I expect the Vance Administration to install a nationwide anti sodomy law /executive order/emergency directive.
But also a great opportunity for some enterprising person to accept gifts from companies to prevent these visits! The free market at work!
