I would guess about a third of the population here are living in an alternate universe fueled by Fox News and social media, and another third are low information humans who have no idea what’s going on around anything. So in these cases it’s not about denial, it’s sheer ignorance. But yes, also a lot of people who should know better are definitely in denial.
