I'm watching the Costa Rica v El Salvador game and repeatedly hearing the announcers (Ian Eagle and a Brit whose name I don't know) refer to teams improving in the course of this tournament - and drawing comparisons to the recently completed WWC, particularly how the USA and England improved through the tournament.

The nice thing about it is that the references are casual and normal as though the announcers anticipate that most of their viewing audience immediately recognize the references and perhaps even saw some of the games.

It's nice to see impact from the WWC carrying over to coverage of men's games.

I was watching a few Gold Cup games and thought it was nice they referenced Carli Lloyd-like player to step up. Very honorable considering you rarely hear male commentators even put a female footballer in the same sentence as the men during a men's tournament.
