At their terrytate.reebok.com website, the following description is attached to their spoof of the Nike Shox ad:
It's bad enough that Reebok has their main advertising personality someone that doesn't like soccer, but it's even worse that they're proudly announcing it on their website.

I think we all know how we should respond to this slap in the face of The Beautiful Game.

Indeed! That's why they bought the naming rights to Bolton's stadium. It's all one sick joke.

I'm planning a three-part series of diatribes calling for a boycott.

Yes, and all those soccer teams who are supported by Reebok and wearing Reebok unis should dump them and follow the lead of the guy in the Nike ad.

Just do it gang...naked soccer, just to spite Reebok.

Maybe Terry Tate in the front offices of MLS would actually be a help.

"Thanks to Terry Tate, or efficency has increased 200%," said MLS Commissioner, Don Garber. "We expect to have 5 new soccer specific stadiums built and 2 new expansion teams by the end of August 2003. Terry is also great at selling soccer specific stadiums to state officials"

-Tate flying through the air hitting state offical

"Sucka, you were supposed to sign legislation for an MLS stadium 2 days ago!! Sign now b***! Sign!!!!"

    ;)

I suggest you utilize that small writing space you have to scrawl something more constructive.

Perhaps you might think about interviewing Bianca Kajlich so the soccer public can discover in depth details regarding how dreamy she thinks Landon is.

They also sponsor Liverpool, one of the biggest clubs in the world.

For the USA, the sponsored the Revolution & Eric Wynalda.

Ya, they hate soccer. They arent interested in the millions of dollars that can be made.

    Methinks ElJefe was being sarcastic.

I wouldn't call what happens at Bolton's stadium "soccer" or "football"

There is probably more antipathy towards soccer than some sports, simply because most hard-core soccerfans are pretty ridiculous about the weaknesses of the sport.....refusing to accept that soccer can be downright boring at times and unacceptable to watch....the endless explanations of how exciting all 0-0, 1-0 matches are borders on the sublime...

    *like all sports

I was hoping it would be set to the music from the Gilbert & Sullivan classic Pirates of Penzance.

Reebok is further undermining development of soccer by sponsoring Julie Foudy, a supporter of Title IX, a law whose sole purpose is to destroy the USMNT program.

of course they are an anti-soccer company. They are from England after all. In matter of fact, I wouldn't trust any company that puts the Union Jack on their shoes.

But then Beau would have to dress up in a pirate outfit. I'm not sure I'm ready to see that. Or maybe it's because Reebok hates soccer writers who dress at pirates. Their conspiracy knows no bounds.

I read that Terry Tate played his college football at Depaul before Title IX forced them to drop the team. Is that correct??

There's an ugly rumor going around that the girls in T.A.T.U. aren't even lesbians, that they have boyfriends back in Russia and that all that kissing, fondling, feeling, rubbing and necking they do onstage is just a complete fraud.

But then again - who cares?
