Gordon struggling for any significant game time for Norwich, can see us recalling and sending him to another championship club if this continues until Jan. Doak looks to be pleasing the Boro fans with his fearlessness to go at his man at every opportunity. Koumas doesn't look like he's managed to follow up his good start since the international break.
Preston North End striker Milutin Osmajic has been banned for eight games by the Football Association for biting Blackburn's Owen Beck. The 25-year-old Montenegro international, who admitted the charge of violent conduct, has also been fined £15,000.
I don't think they even appealed it, would've been pointless anyhow.....you can't go around kicking out at people.
He kicked out at someone first (not the same player that bit him afterwards). I guess they have to be treated as 2 separate incidents.
Koumas and Doak both started and got 55/65 mins. Boro were 1 up when Doak came off and ended up losing 2-1. Koumas with another quiet game. His form has fizzled out after a promising start. Gordon came off the bench and scored for Norwich in their thrashing over Hull.
https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/cqjr801k209o Ben Doak has been tipped for great things for so long it is easy to forget he is still only 18 years old. He was Celtic’s second-youngest first team player ever when he made his debut at 16, but the Parkhead faithful barely had time to get excited about the youngster before he was off to Liverpool. Breaking through at Anfield was always going to be a huge challenge, and injuries hampered his chances despite a few impressive cameos. However, a loan spell with Middlesbrough has now given Doak the platform to showcase his undoubted abilities, and put him in Steve Clarke’s thoughts as he evolves the make up of his Scotland squad. “I’m loving it,” Doak said of life in the English Championship, where he's started five games in less than a month. “I've played more football in the last week than I did in seven months. "It's good to get out there and start enjoying myself again. Starting games week in, week out helps you improve so much. "Playing games here and there, you're never going to see the best of any player.”
More Doak. Liverpool wonderkid shows he is READY to replace Mo Salah after INCREDIBLE display (anfieldwatch.co.uk)
I find this kind of thing to be very shoddy journalism... Chiesa hasn't been (since initial match-fitness rated) at LFC long enough for the underlined statement to be reasonable...
Not at Liverpool very long. But his recent non-Liverpool history is also injury affected. Whether you agree or not, the comment is not entirely unreasonable.
Burnely 1-1 Boro from the bbc site: Any better loanees in the Championship this season than Ben Doak? ============ Ben Doak is some player! Every other Championship fan would be lying if they said they weren’t jealous their team didn’t sign him on loan. Jeff - a jealous Norwich fan, via WhatsApp Agreed Jeff, Liverpool and Scotland have got some player on their hands. ============= Ben Doak goes charging up the field for Middlesbrough and it ends with a shot being blocked. ============== More great work from Ben Doak as he links up with Anfernee Dijksteel and Hayden Hackney smashes in a shot which deflects wide. ========================== Despite Burnley's pressure, the ever-lively Liverpool loanee Ben Doak came close to doubling the lead for Boro on the half-hour mark after wriggling through on the right-hand side and firing just wide of the far post. ================= Boro boss Michael Carrick to Sky Sports: On livewire Liverpool loanee Ben Doak: "He a great player, Ben, he's young and we're still trying to help him develop. He likes a challenge, he likes a battle, he faces it head on. He's learning and playing well." Ben Doak put in another impressive performance for Middlesbrough and the on-loan Liverpool teenager has also been talking to Sky Sports: "It was a tough game, we had to dig in at times - it was always going to be tough. "We can be happy with a draw but we always want more. "I just play to my strengths and hopefully I play well doing that. Middlesbrough is the perfect place for me to be at the moment - we play some of the best football in the league. A lot of it comes down the right side which suits me perfectly and I've got a great group of lads around me - a good group of footballers."
So - is he not the perfect "replacement" for Mo? Sign Mo to two more years, and have Ben available for resting him and learning from him when needed - how old is Ben Doak?
I watched some of him for Boro today. He’s so exciting, but he’s nothing like Mo. Doak is a real throwback player. A right footed player that plays on the right wing. He hugs the touchline all match like an old school winger. He is insanely good at beating the fullback one on one. It’s a weird comparison, but the player he reminds me of is Adama Traore. Just completely unstoppable when he is running at you.
agree with the throwback-winger description (dunno about Traore mind you but anyhow). Ben is a slippery as an eel and torments fullbacks. when Scotland played Poland a few weeks back he had Gvardiol on toast all game. but absolutely not similar to Mo, a totally different threat. at Boro to have developed his game to make better end-product crosses/layoffs - his assists are doing very well. which is exactly what we hoped when sending him to Boro and consistent with a teenager's development. I'd say yes definitely. question is: is that what Slot wants, a traditional winger feeding a physical CF?
Doak's dribbling style reminds me of another Scot Willie Johnston who played for Rangers and WBA back when. He was very good too.
Yes, famous for being one of the first, if not the first suspended from a WC for doping. In those days, they were known as pep pills (write your own joke here) and there was a man-in-the-street interview done with a Scottish fan as it was announced. “Pep pills? I thought they were tranquilizers!”
