The Galaxy, Revolution, and Crew are all fine names. No need to change them at all. They already have history being the first teams in MLS. Chivas USA has history with another team from another country in another league. They should change. New England just needs a caring FO and a winning team and they will be fine. They have the fans, they are just being pushed away.
Agreed, I don't see it either. But, I'm sorry, Lightning, Wild, Raptors, and Thrashers are some of the worst team names in any league in any sport. But again, it's preference.
The barn-storming Cincinnati Red Stockings (well, the majority of the players from that team) moved to Boston to play in the National League team there.
Actually, LA is full of assholes whose love and passion stretched beyond anything you've witnessed until their beloved Dildos screwed em over and relocated to Detroit. MLS came along eventually and gave LA the Galaxy. But though LA has been titillated by the likes of Donovan and Beckham, they haven't been fully embraced nice and tight like the mighty Dildos once were. No doubt there's still a gaping void the Galaxy and MLS still need to tap in to. I suppose only time will tell whether this market will ever be stimulated to its fullest potential.
I've always said that if I were to become a millionaire, I'd start Boston City FC. The League is sort of screaming out for a 'City', use the municipal colors (a light blue/gray sort of shade and a pale yellow) and I'm all for it. I've mocked up a jersey, I'll post it when I get back to my other computer
It's Sporting/Kansas City, not Sporting Kansas/City, although this discussion is amusing me. It reminds me of when there was a minor league baseball team in New England called the New Haven County/Cutters and people would refer to them in ads and newspaper articles as the "County Cutters." Whatever a "County Cutter" is. Is that like being on the redistricting committee?
when SportsCenter had a report about the relegations and promotions in the EPL this year, the anchor pronounced QPR as "Queens/ Park Rangers" . I laughed and laughed.
I always thought Queens/Park Rangers USA would be a great name for the 2nd NYC team. Put them in goofy brown uniforms.
As a tangent, I always thought that New York would be the best place to add a "City" to the league. Brooklyn City or Queens City depending on where they put the stadium. It helps separate their brand identity a bit. Heh, maybe Flushing City if they build it where Shea was...
technically, shouldn't it be Kings County or Queens County? Speaking of, is that going to be the next trend in MLS naming? Once we have a "City" and an "Alliance", will we get Miami-Dade County FC?
Brooklyn City seems a bit pretentious. New England Revolution is a decent enough name for MLS. Just change the logo and uniform. I'd like to see a primary kit based on the old US national team kit from the 1950 World Cup. A white shirt with a red sash, not starting from the shoulder, but from below the chest maybe, like the Portland Trail Blazers. I think this would look neater than a sash going through a sponsor logo. Navy blue shorts and white socks. A unique look in MLS with a classic design that won't need major modifications over the years. A shirt that, if the logo was removed, you'd still instantly recognize as the New England Revolution.
