Pool also signed Frimpong for 35 ME. Fans still obsessed with abusing TAA. :D Part of it is because how good TAA is and he left in his prime lol.

That's all good, but he was here and a starter for most of the threepeat right? That's a good enough reason to put him above anyone.

Lived how they also picked on the Liverpool are our friends quote that Flo said....

"Real Madrid is no friend of Liverpool" was the general response from their fan base.

Well I guess if you consider we beat you in 2 CL finals, took you out of like two more, broke Salah, took Trent and Bellingham from you and would prob sign wirtz if we wanted, they have a point.

Man Real Madrid’s pull is outrageous.

We’ve had some other absolute few generational British players come over to play for us. I’d hate Real Madrid too if I didn’t support the team :ROFLMAO:.

Throughout all our history we had like 7 players from the UK. That's a very low number, if you consider the fact how big Real Madrid is and how successfull the sport is in the UK and how much talent they consistently produce. Besides look at the weather in Liverpool, Manchester, London... Who would want to live there if they could be living in sunny Spain. The staggering number of retired UK immigrants in Spain prove this point. But it doesn't translate to football players I guess.

This current Trent outrage is just a McManaman 2.0 situation. He was also a homegrown talent who left on a free transfer because his contract ran down. They were crying about it back then, and they're crying about it now. They even cried about the same thing with Owen, because he too was a homegrown talent who only got them €8 mil due to running his contract down to its last year. Though Owen also went to sign for United later on lol

It's actually hilarious how their players keep "doing this to them" and they keep on crying about it.

I never held any animosity towards Liverpool, generally I'd consider them a fairly classy club. But since 2018 I've been seeing some ridiculous behavior from a very vocal part of their fanbase. It's because of them that I enjoy moments like these.

Jude takes some credit for the recent pull of players from the PL (British and non-British). We forget that at such a young age, he chose to join a Spanish club whereas most other British players would have taken the easier route, spending their young 20s in the PL with City or Liverpool.

Yeah I know about Frimpong but I think this is about homegrown players, which makes it about money when they are leaving. I assume the logic is that their club made the player so they feel entitled to get compensation for that. But homegrown status is irrelevant when it comes to contracts, what is relevant about homegrown status is that you can always produce more and replace whoever leaves in whichever way they leave, thats the whole point of having a strong academy.

So the whole hysteria is misguided because it makes it about money rather than the pride of producing elite players over. The academy has nothing to do with money imo, it has to do with identity and pride, nothing else. If it was me, my attitude would have been who cares if he left and we didn't get money for him. We will just make a new Trent and then another one and another one, because thats how good our academy is, as proven by making a player like Trent. Like this its kinda pathetic. But thats people for you.

We're talking about a guy who said he wants to become a one club man, a Liverpool legend like Gerrard, how Barca is his favorite club, then suddenly said playing for Madrid is a dream come true.

It's not really that serious, but Trent just shows a lack of character, just saying what sounds and feels best to say at the moment to maximize the effect.

I hope he's professional and productive. He can keep the badge kissing to himself. Pesetero, but hey that's the business.

"lol, they are salty" - very mature way to discuss this, sure.

Had Trent not opened his mouth wider than a big white shark, it wouldn't have been this big of a deal.

It also wouldn't have been a big deal if they got 80 million for him.

His favorite club outside of Liverpool lol which makes this signing even more crazy to me. When Madrid called, he forgot all about that wanting to be like Gerrard one club legend stuff too.

    Insane pull.

Yeah no shit. It would at least have been honest and not him but giving them the runaround to take his contract to the finish line.

Just because bullshit works in our favor doesn't mean we ignore bullshit. Trent absolutely jerked them.

The point is they are not mad hes leaving, theyre mad hes leaving without them getting any money, which is perfectly normal when a contract ends. What he said in the past is irrelevant, people say all kinds of things.

They are mad he lied. Of course people lie, cheat, steal, and do in fact "say all kinds of things", but it shows lack of class and character.

It's also perfectly a "sports fandom in a nutshell" moment where it's irrelevant how much you lack any likeable trait and it's ok as long as you make the team i like better.

It’s clear Trent made the move to progress further in his career, and it wasn’t some dream like he portrays it to be, and that’s fine. Just help win us games and we won’t care lol

Lol... They ain't mad he lied, they mad we took them out of 4 CLs in the last decade. Everything is backlash for that. Could have said every truth in the books and got 100 for him people would still be salty and aggressive cause it's here he came.... Its basically the most fun I've had being a Madridista in The last 10 months or so. Much more entertaining than any of the games we played his season.

Also, it wasn't a secret he was coming for like 1 year now. i haven't had doubt a ever since like October of last year when he wouldnt sign extension.... Every day he didn't sign an extension it became more obvious.

How is TTA responsible for Liverpool not getting a transfer fee? They could have sold him last summer but they didn’t. They rolled the dice and got burned.

Nah. Not really the same in the details, apart from it being a Liverpool player moving on a "Bosman" (which was rare in those days).

It was well known that McManaman would join Real Madrid at the end of the season. Liverpool had younger academy players like Michael Owen and Steven Gerrard lined up to take his place.

Also back in those days Real Madrid was no longer seen as European giant or powerhouse like it is today. Nobody thought it was a team that would win 2 CL and 2 la ligas in the next 4 years.

He was also going to be competing against players like Hierro, Seedorf and Redondo for playing time, there was a big risk involved that he would hit the bench and the move would be a bust.

Finally despite the transfer being a huge success and Macca having developed a good chemsitry with the Galactico's team, which had become a perennial title winner, Florentino only had eyes for David Beckham and took a sledgehammer to the team.
