The whole presentation spectacle is a thing within itself.

I really wish clubs would go all in with it and try to be creative, innovative, and create excitement around it similar to how the nfl did with the draft.

I think there's a lot of potential for it.

I remember the huge wave of interest when we did Kaka, Ronaldo and Benzema. This is a streamlined process now, Trent just nailed it in terms of hitting all the required elements of it.

He is top 3 ever RB... I said what I said. Only Alves and Cafu can rival him.

By body of work. Also - constantly being injured during international tournaments hurt his reputation significantly. Missed out on a lot.

I couldn't care less about his time at the NT, in fact the more he missed for Spain the more I liked him cause I'm not a fan of the Spanish side.... I don't know what "by body of work" means...

Definitions of body of work. noun. the total output of a writer or artist (or a substantial part of it) synonyms: oeuvre, work.

Just way too many real needle movers in his position to stand out. Question is also not what "Real Madrid fans" think, but the general public, and Carvajal arguably always missed out completing the set, season/summer tournament at his peak.

He'd been planning to come here for months.
I like that he's already demonstrated some dedication before even playing his first game for the club.

I mean everyone knew he's coming even during the January window people knew he's coming and we even sent a half assed offer to see if Liverpool would "bite".

You can't say this now in hindsight.

When some of us were saying that last summer and earlier it wasn't accepted and nothing was guaranteed.

I've no idea about what the "concensus" was around here. But for me, I was sure he's coming. The reason we sent the half assed offer in Jan was because we knew he was coming here, and we just chanced our arm to see if we can get him a bit early as we needed a RB.

Carva is the best RB Spain ever produced. Wasn't selected in 2014 WC despite being the best RB that season, then missed Euro 2016 and World Cup 2018 after getting injured in CL finals. Terrible luck.

Glad he won Euro 2024 to have an achievement with NT too after 6 CLs with RM. If a Spanish player had to win BDR based on trophies that season, should have been Carva. MOTM in CL final too.

Carvajal wasn’t selected for the Spain NT in 2014!?

WTF. That’s outrageous. I’ll take a look at who the manager of Spain was at that time.

    Edit: Del Bosque. Wow.

Juanfran and Azpili were selected ahead of Carva. VDB was loyal to his guys. Carva had Ribery in his pocket during both legs of CL semis and got snubbed like that from WC squad. 2013-14 was one of the best club seasons in Carva's overall career too.

It's interesting. If I can ask, not provoking or anything here, just floating an opinion I heard from a err somewhat level minded Liver fan I've known for a while (He understands why they leave and doesn't hate TAA or others who went to greener pastures), but while Trent has every right to leave and doesn't owe anything was it disrespectful for him to not renew then be bought afterwards like many have done before like Grealish, Nasri and CR7?

    Asking

Like renew with 40 ME clause last summer? That was possible. But then he has to make the hard decision of giving up 25-30 ME in signing bonus.

Heard Davies renewed with a big signing bonus at Bayern. Leaving for a transfer fee and pocketing big sighing bonus isn't an option in such situations. Trent either had to renew with Pool to stay long-term for a big signing bonus or choose free agent option.

Making sure Pool get 40 ME while sacrificing 25-30 ME signing bonus for himself. I guess very few players would do that even with childhood club affection.

Yeah, I'm with Saeta on this one.

Trent leaving Pool on a "free" transfer (10 mil is not free) is not "betrayal". He gave Liverpool the prime years of his early career. He broke into their 1st team as a teen, played hundreds of matches and won 9 titles with them. Liverpool got extraordinary value out of him. So yeah, I'm not calling that "betrayal", I'm calling that legacy. Besides it's not like he went to Man United.

Also, Trent didn't "break" his contract or go on a strike wanting to leave Liverpool before his contract ended. He didn't spam social media with "dirty laundry" posts trying to force his way out. He fulfilled his contract like a model professional, was always giving his best and played to the best of his abilities. Now, if you think about it, clubs offload players when they're old and of no service to them anymore - players don't owe them unconditional loyalty. It's business.

If Liverpool fans' argument is that he should've thought about the club's financial well-being before his own, then I rest my case. It's a childish way of looking at things in today's professional sports.

I like that he's taking Marcelo's number, seems fitting and hope he lives up to it.

This type of content is driven by fans. I was in my preteens when I started editing highly stylized football compilations of my favourite players. Really nothing out of the ordinary, relatively speaking

Imagine these same losers celebrate when they pay some other guy a boatload and rip him from his "childhood club" yet see no issues there.

Liverpool fans being so mad can only be explained by their frustration about the compensation. Bradley is a great rightback and they have others coming up the ranks. Just say goodbye to the man and move on, greedy c*nts.
