Carvajal might be fighting on the field but i am very very sure every part of his body is in some kind of chronic state of suffering. He'll be better for it with a limited role, potentially even being on the field at the same time as Trent in some capacity.
The range of outcomes for Dani after this injury is a slightly worse version of himself to a total liability. It's inevitable there will be at least some drop off, not just from the injury but also from being another year older and a year removed from the game. If he can remain competitive with Trent, that's a good problem for Xabi to have. But also considering how long younger players like Militao and Alaba have taken to return from the same injury, not only should our expectations remain low for Dani, but it's also healthy for him and the club to not give him too much responsibility. There is the possibility he can be a better player in 2026 than he will be in 2025. But how many 34-35 year old left backs do we see at the top level?
Well, no-gluten Dani Carvajal (from 2021 onwards) was the best RB in the world in my book. Not only was he incredible for us and winning stuff with us, but with the national team as well. The only players that could be in the same conversation over the same time period would be Hakimi and Trent. I really don't see how anyone worth listening to could say the best RB was not one of these three. Edit: I hope Dani can offer enough to be a good option for the team. I want him around for another couple of trophies. He deserves to go out as our most decorated player ever.
Trent is the signing I'm most excited about. Plugging this guy into a team with Mbappe and a rejuvenated Vini is unfair to the rest of Europe.
On paper it’s an offensive juggernaut. But we still have to see how it does IRL. And how the defense and midfield would cover the gaps. We also had the same expectation of the 3 LWs figuring it out on pure talent. As we all know it didnt turn out as we expected.
Maybe Xabi can convince Trent to play as a leftback so that Carvajal could play in his natural position.
thanks for your 1000 day spanish streak trent! https://t.co/57X0hLEVkR— Duolingo (@duolingo) June 12, 2025 Duolingo says he’s on a 1000 day streak
Pool could have sold TAA for 40 ME last summer like we did with Varane. Fact is top PL clubs don't value that kind of fee compared to having an elite player for another season. And RM will never pay Hazard type fee again with a year left on contract. Both Pool and TAA knew the situation well and chose to see out the contract.

Yeah they aren't taking Trent's presentation to well lol. From his slip up about how long he waited to be here to his fantastic Spanish in his ceremony... now Trent is a trash player and person I can't mock them too much RMBS would do and has done the same

Would have been even better if he got to experience the presentation in the stadium like Mbappe and Endrick last year. 🗣️ Trent on Real Madrid presentations: “The amount of times I’ve seen the press conferences, Jude’s pictures… and I feel like ‘wow I wonder what’s that like’… and now I know.” pic.twitter.com/TewpneIXMx— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) June 12, 2025
For me he's the signing of the summer, and we get to see him play in the white shirt very soon at the CWC. Light it up!
Trent quickly backtracked after saying he'd been 'waiting a long time' to join Real Madrid, then clarified he meant just two weeks 👀 pic.twitter.com/KgqAIufQ0n— ESPN UK (@ESPNUK) June 12, 2025
He kept saying how much he wants to be Liverpool captain back then though, i think it's fair to say Real Madrid capitalized off a player giving his club the runaround like Ballack did to Bayern back in the day. I understand their frustration as much as i understand that this is a top top player joining the club.
Alexander-Arnold traded his soul in the hope of becoming a brand. He gave up his legacy trying to create a new identify. Weirdo. https://t.co/HlvhZAHLqV— Sam McGuire (@SamMcGuire90) June 12, 2025 So dramatic. If he plays well here it will just enhance his legacy.
