Not sure why that would necessarily end the rumors, as a player 'swap' could certainly be worked out, if both teams and both players agreed to the terms. Though if I were Dest, I would try to remain at Barcelona.

Worth pointing out that AS article goes a bit further, stating that coaches are satisfied with Dest's performance and growth, it's just that he has best chance of making them some money and plays at a position they feel is covered by other players

It's the same thing a La Liga pundit said on Counter Attack during the Jan transfer window... Dest was one of the players they weren't looking to get rid of, but one they knew had value and could potentially help their financial situation, so they would consider good offers. Seems that's still the case.
The one ‘Super Club’ that Dest could probably work out with is Manchester United, who are rebuilding and probably need to move beyond AWB, who’s pretty limited in the attack, while Dest is better than Dalot

I feel like as long as Jesse Marsch is there every American player is going to get rumored to go there at some point. But it's a long way from what the article says in that Dest is being offered to Man U (which makes some sense given they need a right back and he's played under Ten Hag) to Leeds being the one to swoop in instead.
Yeah... I get the sense that a lot of these "reports" are just made up in order to get "hits" on social media. It is not specific to Yanks either...
Barcelona apparently covet Leeds Raphinha(sp). Leeds has turned down 43 mill and are asking 63 mill. Some talk of Barce offering Dest and money. Would a player like Dest who has played CL games and was once pursued by Bayern allow himself to go to a team with no European competition?
Thanks but no thanks. There are very few teams that would be more attractive to Dest* than Barcelona, and Leeds is not on that short, selective list. ++++++++++++ *and more importantly, to me.
