Very solid game as others have said.

they need to get back to the 3-5-2. Dest will have more room to go forward without having Messi to give the ball to.

Saw that Emerson was linked with a move yesterday, but can't remember where (or if the source was at all reputable)... I'll see if I can find it (Just saw Tallavana's Spurs post - could be them.)

It was a swap deal for Aurier which Barcelona has no interest in

It was some version of this - again, no idea if it's at all reputable/likely but it is all over the interwebs now.

Romano is also talking about the Emerson move. It makes sense and would be good for Dest. Barca needs to free up more salary to register Aguero and they have Dest and Sergio Roberto who can play RB. Fingers crossed this happens and Romano is sold. Could be the difference between Dest playing 20 and 40 games this year.

Emerson is gone. Barca have put their faith in Dest to make that place his.

I look forward to your proposal for how to do this without ruining other aspects of the sport ... baseball is trying to ban the shift, but that's a static sport where that might work. I don't know how you could pull it off in soccer/basketball/hockey and other free flowing sports.

This is like me banning my wife from bringing gross seaweed snacks into the house. I can ban it all I want but it never actually had a chance of doing anything. I'm just registering a complaint.

I have banned my wife from leaving books on all the furniture I'd otherwise be able to sit on many, many times. I still have nowhere to sit.

It’s time to bring in something so hideous that she’ll avoid it and so comfortable that you can sleep on it. You can’t announce this beforehand.

I don't think Roberto should play RB at all. He is doing well in the midfield and is too slow to play that position on D. I think Minqueza should be the backup like last season. That would make Dest the primary starter and Minqueza would get minutes at RB and Right CB in a 3 CB backline.

I also want to see more of Dest up front to spell Griezmann.

This must be kind of disheartening from Emerson’s perspective. You finally get brought in to Barça just to get shipped out for financial reasons.

Dest was so much better than Emerson that Barca had to sell him to the smallest team in London. You love to see it

From Barça’s perspective, they just made quite a nice profit.

It also means that, even if the deal falls through at the last moment, Dest is the first-choice RB at Barcelona. Otherwise it'd be Dest being linked with a 30m move to Spurs or wherever

Seriously. They bought him for 9M IIRC like three months ago? Did he kill it internationally over the summer for Brasil?

This would be an interesting deal to study, if we had all the details. Barcelona is benefitting, obviously, but Betis is also getting a tasty bite. We would have to know the terms of the Barcelona-Betis deal as well as the terms of this new deal.

Yeah, left that out, let's say they had a 15-20% sell on clause, which would seem likely, they get 5-6M on top of the 9M for which they sold?

I don't know all the ins and outs, but I think it's more complicated than that. Barcelona had a deal with Betis that allowed Barcelona to recall (buy back?) Emerson at a fixed price, but allowed Betis to benefit if Emerson's value blew up (at sell-on).

It looks like the Griezmann transfer is going to fall through at the last minute, as the Saul transfer to Chelsea may not have gotten done in time.

This would have had an interesting effect on the Barcelona setup. Their squad would have suddenly looked light in attacking players and on the right side - which could have interesting ramifications for Dest.
