I agree. Was quite interesting how his two deliveries on the ground were probably his best.

It's definitely not Barca's game, but his aerial crossing needs to improve.

great tactic crossing in the air to Messi. How many headers do you think he can win in the box ?

I literally said it wasn't Barca's game in the post you quoted!

Did you watch the match which Barcelona only won because of a well-placed cross and an accurate header in the box? As long as Dest continues crossing the ball, whether for Barca or the USMNT, I'm sure he'll want it to be effective.

Word. Dest actually came from another team (AJAX) that isn't terribly large up front but still score quite a few headers. It is certainly not the main way either team scores but there will be opportunities and Dest needs to improve on his aerial deliveries. On the left I can see why he is a bit hamstrung and hope that he starts putting in a few more cutbacks inside rather than throwing up weak lob balls. But either way he may be better off letting it loose and hammering the ball with whip because the chips are not working. Heck... he put more whip on those two balls he hit on the ground than he did with the ones in the air. At this point I am sure they have talked to him about it and it may be a "thing" in his head. All that being said... I have a lot of faith in this young man and his skills and expect him to get better at crossing in the future.

They may be asking him to do that. Who knows.

Kid played at least two really nice balls into the box from out wide on the deck. Prior iterations of FC Barcelona would have buried those chances.

Yeah... both of those could have been put home and we would be talking about a two assist night. He has also had two cutback passes to Messi from the left side earlier in the year that have almost resulted in scores too. Just not getting the luck/love on the finishes. Still needs to work on the aerial crosses though. Overall I think he has done well and expect him to grow into the position and be an integral part of the team.

The aerial cross and the ball played along the ground are so very different, and both are crucially important for a wing back like Sergino. I hope he can develop the latter as he seems to have a real knack for the former.

Interesting Dani Alves stream of consciousness interview:
"If I have to give some advice to Dest, it is very simple: pass the ball to Messi”

"Sergiño Dest has a lot of quality and has chances to win at Barça, but I don't like to make comparisons. It happened to me with Cafú, but they don't make sense."

    https://heavy.com/sports/dani-alaves-offers-advice-to-sergino-dest/

I mean dude, that is that dude, talking about our dude, comparing it to when that dude was compared to that other dude, duuuuuuuuuuuuude.

Them seem pretty intent on letting some players continue to play so poorly that they request a move

Great chance for the two of them to catch up and make plans for the break.

I knew CP would be out this weekend and expected Adams to be on the bench... but Dest on the bench is a giant bummer to me. That is two league games in a row...

Yeah, but if Dest had started we could (try to) say that he was keeping Messi on the bench. Ha ha.
