Guy's been there for 15 years, and I guarantee he deserved a HELL of a lot more than 20 reds. How many fouls has he committed that didn't get a deserved yellow. He gets away with soooo much more than others based on his status.
Pointedly, on the left against Getafe, he committed 3 fouls in his half and was dribbled past 5 times. He was much better on the right against Real.
He is noticeably much more effective and comfortable on the right side, particularly defensively. His defending was by far the highlight in an otherwise suspect backline against Madrid. Made all the more remarkable to my eyes with RM seeming to try and pick on he and Pedri in the first half.
Well it appears Barto has resigned. Interested to see what happens in the coming months. Happy Dest has begun to cement himself in the lineup but theres likely to be quite a bit of turnover coming.

I watched basically all of his minutes last year and a bit this year (mostly comp videos)... but I am amazed at his physical improvement. Last year he was getting pushed around and bullied-- now Dest is way stronger. I thought that would be an issue for him at Barca but he looks totally different in those situations now. The Real match is the best I've ever seen him too. Looked fully confident.
Definitely, but it won't affect Dest in terms of PT. He's already impressed a lot of observers in Spain, so expect him to continue to be one of the main men as the club rebuilds, whoever the coach will be. His main challenge will be not letting the turmoil of the next 18 months-two years get to him. The empty stadium should help in that regard
One year ago today, Sergiño Dest committed to play for the #USMNT as an Ajax player. Today he has a chance to start for Barcelona against Juventus in the Champions League after starting in El Clasico just days ago. This will never not be absolutely WILD— Grace Ott (@gcott151) October 28, 2020
Can you imagine how bitter we'd all be had he committed to the Dutch and gotten this transfer to Barca? Actually, I'm still pinching myself that he will play for the US. I hope he gets on the field against Juve today. Any talk out of the Barca camp about that likelihood?
Dest will start, on top of the fact that he is playing great and they are thin at fullback, my YA detective skills lead me to find out that his Jersey is the giveaway from Barca's website this week, that is clearly no accident: https://www.fcbarcelona.com/en/club/culers/draws/shirt-dest This is also a reminder that you don't have to get a subscription service like fubo that has all of La Liga in order to watch Barca games, Barca TV is $40 a year: https://barcatvplus.fcbarcelona.com/en/live
People underestimate how much of more of a man you become from 19-21. It's really difficult to complete athletically with full grown men when you max out on bench at 135. We've come accustomed to our guys breaking through early because we've had Christian and Gio, but an insane amount of growth comes around 19-21 due to physical maturation. If a player is able to compete before then, he's doing it almost entirely with technical and tactical ability.
I been watching this game even if Dest is on the bench and Barca is just playing like the old Barca I used to know. Dembele got lucky with his score. I hope he gets subbed off after half time.
The guy (Dest) we all thought was going to start to end up not playing and Wes got some playing time.
I'd be sad, but not bitter. It wouldn't be a Rossi situation. He was born in the Netherlands and played there. If that's what he chose I'd completely understand it. More of a "what might have been" like Ibesevic.
