I think Fred/McTominay and a 10 is something we've HAD to play, especially against top sides who have better midfields. It works because Fred/McTominay are dueling demons. They both compete and press like maniacs and between them and Jesse/AP there's so much harassing, tackling and fouling, it is really hard to transition through the middle of the pitch against us. But against teams that aren't going to attack us head on and leave a lot of space for that 10 and our 3 attackers to exploit? Against them we suck. I don't know if having both of Fred/McTominay is better than having Pogba next to one of them and a 10 ahead of them both. I think if we play with Shaw and AWB, Martial and Pogba will have to be absolute top tier for us to beat a bunkering team because there will be no help from the fullbacks and the only way we are getting quick transitions is Pogba breaking the lines. If/when he doesn't, we will require the ball to stick w/ Martial and for him to bring the other attackers in... whilst playing against a 1v2 or 1v3 situation. That's why the 10 is helpful... ESPECIALLY when it is Jesse. Jesse ends up occupying a CB when he's not dragging the DM out of position.

The Fredrick redemption/renaissance continued this past weekend vs Burnley. 88% final third passes 56 passes completed (most) 4/5 long balls (most) 3/3 take-ons Also registered the most tackles in that game. A very fine display, with Matic next to him of all people (actually believe that Fred's high energy play was a big contributor for his solid performance on the day). He's been nominated along with Rashford, Martial and Greenwood for United Player of the Month for December. All great selections who are well deserving of the nod. Not sure if Fred will get it but it's between him and Rashford, as far as I'm concerned. I really can't wait for him and Pogs to play together: on the form Fred is in at the moment, it really could be fun to watch.
Came here to say how impressed I am w/ Fred's defensive abilities and athleticism. I assumed he'd be quick and be able to run for days, but he's won quite a few defensive headers and made some really good challenges aerially and otherwise that have prevented chances and I didn't expect him to be there at this stage. He's needed time to settle and a run of games, but holy shit, he's been on fire.
Real recognise real 💪What do you make of Fred's recent performances? 🤔🇾🇪 #MUFC pic.twitter.com/NxY5pt6Es7— Stretford Paddock FC (@SPaddockFC) January 29, 2020 Best player at the club, along with Rashford, since the start of December, easily.
Well deserved. 🇧🇷 F R E D 🏆#MUFC's no.17 is our Player of the Month for January! @Fred08Oficial 👏 pic.twitter.com/WFkHwZdzlq— Manchester United (@ManUtd) February 1, 2020
https://metro.co.uk/2020/02/08/fred...teds-dressing-room-12203814/?ito=newsnow-feed I'm expecting Messi Lingard to circle some quotes and demand Fred either names names or keeps his mouth shut.
Fred: “When everyone has the same goal, to win titles and be in the Champions League that’s when we will return to the place we belong, a place where #mufc should have never left.” #muzone [De Sola] pic.twitter.com/DOiuIasJzX— United Zone (@ManUnitedZone_) February 8, 2020 Curious to hear the whole interview (as clearly the more juicy bits and pieces have been reported by the English press). But the above is where it's at,and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it, as far as I'm concerned as he simply spoke the truth (just like his comments about our lack of creativity which is well known by all). With his good form in the past couple of months, he's shown a new found confidence that goes beyond his play on the pitch and it's good to see. Not to mention that we've been crying out for guys to step up, show leadership and some grit, both on and off the pitch. McTominay has shown signs earlier in the year and Fred now is another. Fernandes in one game has already exhibited some of those qualities also. The press (the tabloids particularly) will present this as venomous or what have you, but he appears to simply stating facts. I welcome this 100%: Plus some players deserve to be called out, based on their play alone anyway on some level, if we're being completely honest. Preach, Pastor Fred, preach!
The dirt has to come out and we fans who have endured alot deserves to know every bits and pieces of truth.
We’re in a culture rebuild and if there’s a shithead in the locker room that doesn’t fall in line then that person should go.
💬 @Carras16: “Fred has stuck at it, he’s learnt and he’s been willing to put the work in and try to improve.“He’s been fantastic for quite some time now and I’m sure there’s more to come, because he’s that kind of boy."@Fred08Oficial ♥️ #MUFC pic.twitter.com/zS8li5ibgk— Manchester United (@ManUtd) February 16, 2020 Spot on from Carrick. Another MotM display from him today at the Bridge. So very happy to see him come good, as he always had it in him. Very much one of the most important guys on the team as far as I'm concerned. Absolutely awesome and somehow he makes Matic look very decent and they consistently work well together.
How Fred turned it around at United. https://www.skysports.com/football/...manchester-united-how-he-turned-it-all-around Never gave up, persevered and really has become vital to the team at this point. And for my money, he pretty much should be United's Player of the Year if he keeps up his form for the remainder of the season.

Been a model of consistency for the last 4mos and seemingly gets even better in big games, putting in superb shifts and working his butt off. Amazing turnaround.
