great article and i'm thrilled to see nyrb getting involved in haiti. given the large haitian population in nyc and the talented young haitian players on the red bulls roster, creating some training and philanthropic links to haiti seems like a perfect fit. here's a bit more reading: - http://www.yele.org/ (yéle haiti, wyclef jean's organization) - http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/soccer/12/05/bc.cb.spt.soc.haiti.red.ap/ (si article on the trip) - caribbean press article
Great article and I'm very happy to see Red Bull support this kind of thing. Unfortunately it also reminds me of the terrible history the US has in its relations with Haiti, and our unfortunate complicity in the current situation. US - Haiti history another perspective I hope that as a nation we will do the right thing and make amends.
Go to the website for the Red Bull Insider and watch the entire trip. wyclef Jean also got a Red Bull Jersey http://web.mlsnet.com/t107/
