I kind of root for the RB now so no big deal here - this is more about a team in Queens that the league has been teasing in my eyes since ...forever.

    That pretty funny stuff.

I also remember when the metro were looking to move to Aqeduct - I was pretty excited for that too so in theory they were almost in Queens twice lol

Just to play Devil's Advocate...if a corporation the size of Red Bull was put off building a stadium in New York City "proper" by the cost... ;)

your not quite reading the article correctly. Beyond that, Red Bull is a successful company, but it's not as big as you seem to think it is.

RedBull also wanted a MORE IMMEDIATE marketing ploy. Building a stadium in NYC, would have cost them double the money and double the time. It would have gone completely against their marketing schedule.

Are you aware that Red Bull has a yearly revenue of over $3 billion?

Actually I don't believe they ever intended to move to Aqeduct. I believe Kluge and Subotik planned on having a NYC expansion team playing there.

back in the day when I was on Charlies pay roll charlie told me he wanted to have US OPEN Cup Games at aquaduct.... Charlie and Frankie went to aquaduct to check it out the Field they though could host a soccer game the lawn part after the dirt track was not wide enough for a regulation size pitch as requested by US Soccer for the open cup games....add to that the actual stands were rotting and basically aquaduct was in such sad state of affairs that they decided to take the us open cup else where ....

but yeah charlie wanted to go to aquaduct for a time until he saw it first hand......

hmm - interesting - i just remember seeing in the papers about Aqueduct and it was a long time ago so i thought it was the Metro - maybe I have what Flaco said and the facts a bit confused - it was a while ago!

That's an interesting story Flaco, but I'm pretty sure they wanted to knock the whole thing down and build a SSS. Well at least for the NY2 team they did.
