Teens won't be able to drink the extremely unhealthy drink in Suffolk county. What happens if an advertising ban comes next??? http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local-beat/Energy-Drink-Ban-Proposed-for-Teens-111481549.html
"Energy drinks can cause sleeplessness and high blood pressure in teens, argued a nutrition expert for Cornell Cooperative Extension." Why not ban FIFA 11, if that's the case?
But in all seriousness, as much as I don't like the company and their product, I'm firmly on the Beverage Association's side here. As with FourLoko, I value personal choice over government regulation. Banning....no. Taxes or other forms of lighter regulation is doable. If we're doing this for sleeplessness and high blood pressure, we better start banning almost all foods/drinks and any goods at coffee shops.
One of the reasons teens use energy drinks is to help them study so hopefully they can get accepted into and succeed at a place like Cornell. What is to prevent them from going to another county and buying the drinks there? Energy drinks are not all about recreation.
Well if its to help teens study, give em some blow. I'll hook em up with an eight ball of some really good Bolivian coke. And they can help the economy around Roosevelt Ave. Win win for everyone involved
I could care less ban or no ban this does not affect me... when I need energy I do a line of Blow................
So are kids under 19 banned from going to a New York Red Bulls game too? On a serious note, do you think this will negatively affect the Red Bulls in any way? This is why the naming was a bad idea.
Of course. Studies show that 9 out of 10 current Cornell students owe their academic achievement to Red Bull. Of course, Cornell is also the american university with the highest suicide rate in the nation. Anyway, yes, of course this is stupid. It's just appealing to a bunch of bored Suffolk County parents who, to distract themselves from the void of their own lives, are looking to over-regulate and over-control their bound to be stunted children. Just thought it was kind of funny.
I agree with this. I also value consumer choices and stop letting the government decide on what is best for us. If you're stupid enough to buy crap like red bull then go for it. Will it hurt red bull? maybe but probably only just a blip on their radar.
This will not hurt the team in the smallest. Will it hurt the brand - perhaps. Biggest impact will be felt in the Hamptons. I imagine sales in some of the bars out there were pretty big.
lol - agreed but i am talking from a business stand point - i imagine they have a sports division and a soda drink division. But - to your point - then NO - this will not effect the running of the team - of course it will effect Red Bull but not nearly enough to have a major impact.
Actually if you mean yearly suicide rate than MIT is number 1. If you mean school with the most suicides than yes it is Cornell but most are in the graduate programs and the last time it happened was about 3 years ago. Japan has more school related suicides in a YEAR than most schools have in their history. Out here we tend to jump on the "oh crap" bandwagon pretty quickly. I agree you shouldn't ban Four Loko but put a higher price on it, it was 2.25 out here that's cheaper than a Red Bull.
But just so you know Nick that 21 is a little facetious that there will be 18 year-olds at the bar. Just saying.
I figured it was obvious but you might take it I was pointing out the age obnoxiously and not the fact that age does not mean a thing if you have a nice rack.
So now teenagers in Suffolk County will have to stand in the parking lot of 7-11 and ask "cool adults" to buy them energy drinks like my generation did with beer in the early 80s.
But back to soccer, if this ban had any effect to get Red Bull out of MLS, I'd bite my freedom-loving lips and hope for the ban. Red Bull in MLS is a bigger problem than protecting my civil liberties.
