I thought I'd try keeping up with the recruiting from a different angle. Instead of waiting for more delinquent programs to finally release their recruiting classes, I thought I'd post the names of top players whose college commitments aren't known and see if we can fill in some blanks that way. Here is a list of players in the U18 pool followed by a list of HS All-Americans whose college commitments we don't know about. The AA list is from the NSCAA and I'm trusting their reporting that the players listed are seniors. Some of the U18 members I've listed may not be seniors - I've eliminated the ones I know are in 11th grade - but it's hard for me to tell for sure so I've listed them and figure if they're only juniors someone will say so. Ali is A really Good Player... He is From Liberia...and has conections with the Revolution.. Unless his parents make him...I am sure he will go pro and not to college... P.S. Ali Is A Good player..... if you watch him play.. it will remind you Of Gorge Weah...and Deba...From Liberia..
I was told by a person I play with who knows Gary Rocca that he was deported a few weeks ago for statiorary rape(sorry if I spelt it wrong). I have played against him many times though, and he is one of the very best players I have ever seen in this country. He had a tryout with the Revolution earlier this year, and I know he was trying to go to Europe.
Who dont you know about? well first off..many coaches only scout those top club teams (for obvious reasons) but there are so many more players out there on other teams that aren't as good...so they dont get scouted. For example, how many outside midfielders have you seen scouted? Its a position many take for granted. Ive seen more colleges just convert old forwards and center mids to that position and tighten up the midfield and let their backs run onto balls.....but their backs dont. there shoudl be some sort of scouting service that can identify these players that slip through the crack, yet have good skill and a good soccer head. Too many potential professionals go unnoticed every year.
Bumping an old thread to point out that I found a Gary Rocca playing for Club Atlético Basáñez in Uruguay. http://www.tenfieldigital.com.uy/servlet/hprfchju?0,4,4/,1,7089 http://www.futbolvida.com.uy/basanez.html http://www.basanez.org/ No idea if it's the same guy, but it could be.
