We have any fans of Recreativo that come to these boards? We have fans for Malaga, Sevilla and Betis. I'm just wondering if we have any resident experts on the newest Andalucian member of Primera. Star Players? Outlook for the season? Transfer news and new signings?

Isn't Recreativo the first (hence the oldest) professional club in Spain?

If you come to Sevilla and go to Isla Magica there are replicas of famous buildings in Andalucia, to include their stadium. Not only are they the oldest club but they also have the oldest stadium. If I recall correctly their club was founded in 1898 by Brits working in Huelva. It should be easy for Yanks to jump on board the Huelva ship. It included the Spanish and American flags in their advertising space (I have no idea why).

    Qdog,

I'm curious. Where in Andalucia do you live and are you a native of there?

Yes, I believe it had something to do with the Rio Tinto mine which was British-owned.

They have a new stadium the "Nuevo Colombino" that was built several years ago 1999-2000.

The club was founded on 23 December 1889 and was called Huelva Recreation Club and in Spanish Club Recreativo de Huelva.

I live just outside Sevilla. I'm an American who came here as a GI and feel in love with the country and it's lifestyle as well as one beautiful senorita. My biggest fault: my Spanish is not nearly as good as it should be.

Torrejon. You come from a nice area, but unfortunately it's turning into too much of a tourist area. Costa Bellina (sp?) is just too much for me.

Cool. I have an American mother and Spanish father. My family is from Sevilla. Nice to have other Sevillanos on the board. Have you seen a game at Sanchez Pizjuan yet? I know it's a crappy stadium but it's pretty fun to go (except for the damn firecrackers that's all the rage now). I was also stationed in Rota for a little over 3 years.

    LOL

I have had several spanish girlfriends but I'm not married yet. I'm still enjoying the single life. Interestingly enough I found it much easier to talk to and go out with women in Spain than here in the US. It seems women here have too many hangups.

I haven't been to the stadium, don't get to the city much. But it's not so bad, still better then Olympic and Lopeda stadiums. :)

You come from a nice city/region. Lots of neat things to see and do. The best part, there is always a party:

    Christmas/New Years
    Carnival
    Spring Fair
    Summer vacation (absolutely a must)
Fall fairs in the smaller towns
    back to Christmas

    It just never stops.

Villar del Pinal is an unusual case. Avila is not so bad. But I would have to say you would probably like Andalucia a bit better for all it has.

On another note, get in your military and come on over. You'll love it. Hopefully you can get assigned to your embassy in Madrid, so MadridForever and UltraSur can bring you back from the dark side. :)
