excellent choice dearest talina. i got that when it came out and it good stuff indeed. its fun the play with the camera angle switch thing on the DVD. the one unreleased song on the CD is really good too.
Re: Velvet Underground: Loaded I'm way behind in here. I've got to dig up some the stuff I've bought in the last month or so.
I've really lagged on this thread, but I'm going to kick it back up and stick with it. Ebay is such a great place to score cheap CDs: Tarun Bhattacharya: Kirvani and Naxos is the world's greatest budget CD label. New CDs with a max price of $7.99 John Cage: Sonatas & Interludes for Prepared Piano (1946-1948)
I got a job today, so I decided to go celebrate a little bit. In true American fashion, I decided to spend it before I got it. Here's what I picked up: Cornelius: Fantasma Calexico: Hot Rail Damien Jurado: Ghost of David
I'm a metal DJ on the weekends and I specialize in Thrash.I get to hear many different styles including some very clean sounding bands ie:More "Light Alluminum" than "Heavy Metal". What are some of the harder/aggressive bands you listen to?I remember you responding to my thrash thread a few years ago.I have two FIVE hour thrash metal shows and a Friday lunch hour 80s metal show.Post a list of your heavier stuff here and I'll direct you to some bands that won't be too far off of your faves. Here is a link to my new thrash metal thread I just posted a few minutes ago. PEACE -~~ https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?p=3073600#post3073600
Heavy bands I like: Helmet Anthrax Rammstein Rob Zombie Megadeth (some of it anyway) Living Sacrifice P.O.D. I haven't heard too much, but I'm interested in some System of a Down that I've heard I also like some Pantera
Helmet(never really listened to them and I don't listen to radio.Pretty heavy from what I recall) Anthrax(Their old schitt rocks.I can't stand the new stuff with John Bush{Ex-Armoured Saint} on vocals) Rammstein(Check out the band Megaherz.I've only have one song,Jordan, and it sounds ALOT like Rammstein) Rob Zombie(Just outside of the periphery of my music.I can listen to it,just not by choice) Megadeth (I like the older stuff only) Living Sacrifice(Hmmm.I LOVE their first self-titled CD . . . and then they lost me.Debut sounds more like Slayer than Slayer did at the time) P.O.D. If you listen to Christian metal(LS and kind of P.O.D.)check out Deliverance's self titled debut and the What A Joke CD.They have others but they are a bit too weak for my tastes.Other Christian bands, but a bit heavier are Sacrament(Haunts Of Violence instead of the brutal Testimony Of The Ancients), Believer(Extraction From Mortality and Sanity Obscure.Dimensions is a bit too experimental for me),Brainchild and one of the heaviest bands to ever plug in a guitar . . . Australia's Mortification. Check out www.bnrmetal.com .They have a Christian metal section. Also go to the pages of the bands I list here and there will be links to their official page(No Megaherz though, sorry). Most will give you some MP3s(Exodus doesn't) so you won't be buying something that you have no idea what it sounds like. Other bands you might like are: Sonata Arctica(Silence or Ecliptica)Clean melodic thrash/rock with an actual singer instead of a vocalist.Finnish band. Exodus(Tempo Of The Damned)Their new/comeback CD is absolutely crushing.Very good production and top notch musicianship. Rage(Soundchaser)Cheezy sci-fi concept CD but some quality guitarwork with more rock influences than thrash.Vocals might scare you away, but hey,he's original.Even though I like more aggressive metal,I can't seem to stop listening to this CD.It's either in my home stereo or my car stereo. Aw crap.I gotta go but I will be back with more in a few days if not sooner. PEACE -~~
Re: Velvet Underground: Loaded As the old saying goes, better late than never. Top to bottom, a classic. A little "poppier" than their other stuff, but a classic nonetheless. "Rock and Roll" is one of my favorite songs of all time.
Re: Velvet Underground: Loaded It's funny. Sometimes I spend so much energy digging for obscurities, I miss out on classics. My "road to the Velvet Underground" was bizarre. I first heard U2 do a Lou Reed cover when I was in high school, then saw a Vietnamese movie with some actual Lou Reed songs and then Phish played Loaded in it's entirety. Some odd places to find them, but glad I did.
it's a perpetual eBay cycle. get rid of something you don't want...get something off of ebay you do want. it's beautiful really.
