I think this system is the best way for Celico to play his futbol. At least if he plays a back line of 3 with all CB there no way we can end up with a back line of 2. Play our usual full backs as wingers and we can alternate from a line of 3 to 5 to defend then back to 3 to attack and counter. Have two people attack through the middle like Arroyo and Preciado and we could project Ramirez and Tono. What Celico loves to do have a lot of players on attack. Even in today's game he had Arroyo free up space on the wing so Ramirez can go forward. Surprisingly in the first half Tono didn't do that but he likes to project his fullback and have players attack through the middle as well. Arroyo, Preciado and Ramirez were doing that. His line of 4 did exactly what I thought it would do. End up in a line of 2 like he plays in Catholica. He had 2 CB and Tono in that back line after he subbed out Ramirez. A line of 3 that's really a line of 2 cause Tono moves up in the field. This is why we got scored on right after our goal. Your right tho he might not be the Ideal coach to do this with the NT and we don't have all the players to do this but he didn't really have them in El Nacional or even in Catholica really. Since we didnt have much to lose I was interested by the idea but with out Achilles and just two new players in our back line I wouldn't dare. Achilier, Aimar, and Arboleda are a fast back line tho. I would love for Ecuador to play this futbol with Bauza or Sampoli. But again Bauza got sweeped up cause FEF didn't jump on the chance to get him. Def going to watch Saudi Arabia if they make the World cup.
