Ceballos isn't the problem nor was he the issue at Anfield. I don't see him as a squad player but a sh!t excuse for a footballer, he's segunda level at best. Ceballos complains a few weeks before every transfer market starts until the eve of it shutting down while belly dancing for Betis who doesn't really want him either.
You probably realize that is a very biased take considering that Ancelotti trusted him and Xabi trusts him and there is nothing that indicates his teammates don't either. As for the complaining in transfer windows, for me its a very marginal story that really does nothing to disturb the team atmosphere, media draw that card when it is slow news day and it still stays slow news day. I said many times I don't mind Ceballos staying or going, just that with the way the club operates with regards to transfers it might be more prudent to keep him. I was hoping that we might see more of Thiago Pitarch after the preseason but apparently that was it.
I have to admit that I'm bias. I just hate whatever brand of slow and ineffective football this muppet plays. Zidane kicked him out twice, Arteta didn't want him and Xabi asked for a midfielder with "Ceballos' profile" so I'm guessing he did really want him, he'll obviously use him now (I wouldn't say trust) because we're pretty short on midfielders, Ceballos is getting paid and Xabi rotates. Carlo loved his seniors regardless of performance (Alaba, Vasquez, Rodrygo). And fully agree on the last part.
I think the future is impossible to predict without knowing who will we go for when our entire bench backline leaves in the summer. That's 3/4 players in defense than need replacing.... Add an 8 and a top top ST and we golden. Find a way to Sell Ceballos
I just miss my team being able to beat any top team on a bad day. That now seems so far away. Real Madrid has not been a top 5 team since Tony Kroos retired. If only the midfield wasn't so unreliable and defense has some solidity. I just hope they can be consistent enough in La Liga. Even if they're now incapable of beating elite teams.
Pool can't be judged by the way they played at Galatasaray either. Barca under Flick are much more consistent than Atletico. So treating Atleti as big test while downplaying win against Barcelona doesn't make sense.
The amount of injuries Barca had make them a much worse team, i'm not going to discuss it, but i also don't subscribe to the "big team" theory. The issue is not the opponent, i feel like a lot of good things we do under regular circumstances we throw out of the window in the "bigger" games to make way for every guy to find his way into the field. Once we get that settled the results there will be different as well.
The only injury that affected Barcelona was Raphina. Lewa nowadays only starts <50% of the games even when fit. Elmo is a dud (see vs Brugge) as for the GK situation, Szczęsny made numerous excellent saves that partially protected Barcelona from a thrashing that they deserved. Oh I forgot, Yamal's nut sack ached since he was wanking for 3 straight days before El Clasico after Nicky Whoever dumped him.. Meanwhile, in the very recent past, we've lost and been dominated by Barcelonas that starred Sergi Roberto, Kessie, Christensen and 2023 Busquets. But of course, any team we beat is not a "big team" and not the "real test" it's only the ones we capitulate to that are the true measure..give me a fvcking break.
So this current Barca is better than Liverpool, or where do you put those two teams in context to each other? Keep in mmin that i think the big game thing is a self made problem for us like it was for a lot of coaches when they were green-
JFD for AS: At Valdebebas, they know Militao is back and there's total confidence in Huijsen. They need more. Konaté is moving in a positive direction, while Upamecano and his agent are moving in a negative one. Konaté , a Liverpool player like Trent before him , has chosen the path of caution regarding Real Madrid 's interest . Step by step. Cautiously, but surely. In fact, at Anfield, they consider him a lost cause. Bayern Munich has entered the picture, even though the sporting director said last Friday that the Bavarian club's first objective is to renew Upamecano's contract. Upamecano and his agent, in the negative What's striking is that he says this in the week that an agreement between the Frenchman and the club has been leaked , something that is far from reality. The third party in this entanglement is none other than Guehi , who is already on his way to Liverpool to finalize what was started in the summer. https://as.com/futbol/primera/el-real-madrid-no-admite-subastas-f202511-n/
Multiple people in Munich confirm that the difference between other clubs, including Madrid and Bayern is that Madrid, and everybody else, are ready to pay Upamecano a 20 mil. signing bonus that the player considers market appropriate but bayern feel like this should not become a common practice at all at the club and refuse.
I feel Bayern might cave in like with Davies. Don't think Kim is good enough to start for Bayern so Upama has some leverage.
I agree with Bayern's position if that's true, but if the market changes all you can do is adapt or be left behind.
talent wise this team is top notch.. we have some of the best players in key positions (wings, goalie, strikers, midfield) what we lack is leadership , we got spoiled by the last generation of players who were natural leaders, (Ramos, iker, Pepe, Ronaldo, Benzema, bale, modric Toni). these guys brought command to their respective positions . players who were willing to win and dominate at all given cost . There is no one shouting commands on the field and calling out each other to push for that extra win. its hard to replicate that ... Xabi's challenge will be to mold these players into winners and leaders who can win at all cost
We need to find a midfielder like Frenkie de Jong or Pedri honestly; we have a top class DM in Tchouameni and amazing attacking midfielders in Jude and Arda. However, we are missing a player that links the defensive and attacking halves. Maybe Kees Smit?
According to Sky Sport Germany Real Madrid and Barcelona are closely monitoring the situation of young German midfielder Kennet Eichhorn. At just 16 years old, the Hertha Berlin player has a long list of suitors, including Real Madrid: Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig, and Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany, and Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester United in the rest of Europe. His release clause is between €10 and €12 million , depending on the league he would join.
